Originally posted by ice-vortex There is no wipe during early enrollment (beta). So you say paying for beta? I say paying to develope the game world and start developing your charactor.
No wipe = Same as any mmo release.
Crowdforgers just happen to get in early to set the stage for the final release. "It would be awesome if you could duel your companion. Then you could solo pvp".--Thanes |

We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality. |

Just hope there is enough production quality to make the animations and the combat to be fluid and polished. Nothing I cant stand more then crappy combat animations and it almost always done by indie studios.
Good thing about them reaching their goal means they should release in 2014 right? Instead of 2015? |

Originally posted by ice-vortex I dunno.. I kind of understood exactly what they described. It's not a normal beta as your accomplishments will not be wiped. you are simply the first adventurers in the new world and it will definately have reduced functionality.
If you didn't understand that i think the issue lays on your end and not theirs... If you did understand, why assume nobody else would?
"I should point out that no other company has shipped out a beta on a disc before this." - Official Mortal Online Lead Community Moderator Starvault's reponse to criticism related to having a handful of players as the official "test" team for a supposed MMO: "We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team" (SIC) This explains much about the state of the game :-) |

Originally posted by ice-vortex Funny you say that because of ever mmo i bought in the past 6 years or so felt like i was in beta anyways... So whats the difference between PFO and any other AAA title that released? Hell SWTOR is still in beta lol... All MMO's ever created have been in beta from the moment they release. Originally posted by BlackUhuru So your reasoning is that Bioware does it makes it okay for this? If an extra $1 million can speed this development up by a year, we are talking an extremely small development budget. These small underfunded games already have an issue with being released buggy and lacking features (see Darkfall and Mortal Online). This is why sandbox has become synonymous with featureless. In terms of features available, SWTOR at least had far more than every sandbox game ever released since SWG. |

Originally posted by ice-vortex Well we can both spin this anyway we want, i understand what your saying... But...
The fact remains ever MMO released including future games will be in a state of beta. I haven't experienced a mmo released to date ( iv'e been playing mmo's since 98') that didn't release in a beta stage.
So call it what you want... I see it as early access to establish the community before they release it to the F2P market and thats exactly how Ryan and Goblinworks has explained it. "It would be awesome if you could duel your companion. Then you could solo pvp".--Thanes |

Originally posted by ice-vortex An MMO by definition is not complete at launch. Every game launches with missing features. WOW was missing battlegrounds, AOC was missing seiges and pvp.... I can´t remember and MMO that didn´t have a major feature ´coming very soon´ when it launched. I think PFO is being honest about it, and also really showing one of their big features.. that players will directly influence what DOES get added and in what order. Look at their kickstarter now.. we are working gnomes because that is what players voted for. If you are an ex-wow player and want to come back. Scroll of Rez gives 7 free days, boost a character to 80 a realm and faction change. Send me PM for an invite. Only 1 per day available |
