I do hope that they mak an annoucment about just that soon. I think that will pull a lot more support if they supported one or both of them at the launch of "Early Enrollment"!

Update #33Announcing Pathfinder Online: Pit Fight!

From the beginning, Goblinworks has been working to get our fans involved in the process of developing Pathfinder Online as early as possible so we can live up to the Pathfinder tradition of player involvement in the development process.

In the fall of 2013 we'll be releasing a combat testing tool called Pit Fight!

Our players can help us get a much wider range of combat data while getting a preview of combat in Pathfinder Online. Pit Fight will be a stand-alone, single-player experience.

Pit Fight will put the player through a number of gladiatorial battles, fought in the newly constructed Bonepit Arena in Thornkeep. Players will be able to get a sneak preview of our combat design and help us shape its development through PvE conflict against various NPC opponents. Initially, players will be using a limited number of prebuilt characters beginning with Fighters but expanding over time to involve other classes, combat styles, etc.  Players will be able to try a handful of scenarios we specifically want to test, but over time we’ll add more characters, more customization, and more scenarios. Players will be able to see what aspects of combat they most enjoy and plan their advancement path once Pathfinder Online launches.

We plan to release Pit Fight in Fall  2013.  We are finalizing the platforms we can support but we anticipate the baseline will be a Unity Web App.

I had a dream once...

That a group of real RPG vets and producers created a true high fantasy sandbox mmorpg. After the game released and all the mmorpg fans realized what they had been deprived of over the past 10 years, band together and stormed the studios of all the themepark console cash grab corporate suits and held them hostage until they agreed to quit the buisness for good.

Boo ....

Great sounding game ideas and a well built team.  Never would have known about it if it didn't pop up in the recent posts section.

Pardon my ignorance, but, what happens if they don't reach their goal?  Is it an all or nothing kind of thing or they make due with what they have collected so far?

Threw some money their way, hopefully the investment is will lead to a well polished game the devs and players can be proud of.

Money is not collected until it funds so no money unless they hit their $1M target

Starvault's reponse to criticism related to having a handful of players as the official "test" team for a supposed MMO: "We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team" (SIC) This explains much about the state of the game :-)

The game will be made regardless of the Kickstarters success or not.

The Kickstarter is to help hire a larger staff to push its release sooner, and also to create the crowd forgers that will help mold this game from its beginning.

Some of the specific MMORPG attractions of the kickstarter in short order:

  • Early Enrollment: (& accelerated development est: mid-2014) at $100 tier with x4 months thrown in.
  • Destiny's Twin = train a second character for for no extra training-cost when you train your first character on one account.
  • Guild Land Rush!! Support your guild in a vote to be provided with a hex ready to settle: This is to seed the mmo with guids already formed to create all the infrastructure for the game economy.
  • Race Vote: Choose which race is added first to the game
  • Pit-Fighter Combat Tool: In late 2013 (assuming funding ks success) a combat tool will be released for players to play-test the combat: See more: Announcing Pathfinder Online: Pit Fight!
  • Various character options as bonus add-ons to pledges.
  • Shieldmate: During the kickstarter the Adventurer and Crowdforger levels can "invite a friend": Any time two or more characters with the Shieldmate Mark are in a party, everyone with the Shieldmate Mark will gain a synergy bonus.

Update #29: UNITY

Update #30: MAC SUPPORT

Looks interesting. I do have a question though. If they don't succeed on their kickstarter can they do a new one? Also if they don't get the funds what does it mean in terms of the game, will it be released or must it will take longer to do so?

If the kickstarter doesn't make the million development will continue but release is expected to be about a year farther out. I don't think they'll do a new kickstarter but who knows.

They have funding already: But the KS is to speed up dev for early enrollment for mid-2014.

Let's just make sure the Kickstarter Campaign makes it, first!

I believe GW has stated that if this KS doesn't pan out, they will not start another one. As others have stated, they have funding this KS was just a way to help speed up development.

That is my understanding too. However they could do what Roberts Space Industries (Star Citizen: looks sharp) has been doing, which is selling perks/ships/skins right on their website.

To dream, perhaps to be.
