  • Producer's Letter Released

    PlanetSide Next Producer Andrew Sites has released an early copy of his inaugural letter to PlanetSide Universe. Sites introduces himself as coming to the team just over a month ago. He then reveals that the PSN team has been expanding and that several members from the original PlanetSide team have been brought back on board to create the next-gen PlanetSide Next.

    Sony Online Entertainment's John Smedley has confirmed that the Planetside: Next team is expanding even in the face of over 200 layoffs and the closure of three of SOE's studios in Tucson, Denver and Seattle. This astonishing revelation was given to editors in a call to Mr. Smedley.

  • PlanetSide Sequel in Development

    While no official announcement has been made just yet, just about all signs point to the development of a sequel to PlanetSide. The rumors first started as a story broke over at PlanetSide Universe that SOE had been sending out survey e-mails to PlanetSide players seeking their input on the development of a PlanetSide sequel. Soon after, it was confirmed that the domain had been registered, and finally, a comment from SOE President John Smedley on the future of PlanetSide.

  • Remaining Servers to Merge

    In an announcement made on the official PlanetSide forums, the Werner server will merge into the Gemini server, bringing the total number of servers down to one. This merger is scheduled to take place on August 25th, 2009.
