I was looking around on Steam at the new mmorpg deals and I noticed SOE hasn't put Planetside up on there. So I went to the Planetside website and theres no free trial or anything. Even the Vista problems with the game havn't been patched 2 years on and it makes me wonder are SOE ignoring it so that they can shut it down without complaints from Steam users who could have bought it if SOE put it on there?

It's quite possible that they will shut it down eventually.

I mean they did snuff out MxO when it became too unprofitable and obscure. Same thing might happen to PS

Not sure, they have actually shut 1 down, so this could be the next to go.

It wont be much longer, even the die hards are leaving now it has become apparent that SOE are lying scum at actually delivering on anything.

There is no development, no support and no resources being applied to the game.

The so called server merge has been shown to be a lie by the CSR the other week and the games producer who visited the forums only once a year anyway to give false hope and misdirection has been moved onto EQ and there is no replacement.

Will resub for the games last month but the pops are too low to bother with now, in fact I would say it is down 2/3 on a year ago.

SoE are such fools...

They have some of the best MMOs ever made but they've ruined them all...

Planetside... nothing else like it

SWG... need I say more

Vanguard... In my opinion, the best fantasy MMO ever

EQ and EQII.... Again need no introduction

Yet all of them are dying. Such a shame. I had a station pass for a while until I realized all their MMOs are dead (except maybe EQII)

MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, City of Villains / Heroes, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor

Planetside, ever since I played beta, has been the only MMO I've always wanted to come back to. It's not just an addiction... the game really was amazing! The scale was incredible and the options and depth available to players was impressive. But as time went on, things got more gimmicky and then we got the BS expansion Core Combat, which not only diverted people to the caves but introduced the hellish vehicles known as BFRs.

But the game was dying before that because SOE was not investing in its future. I was hoping the Warhammer 40k MMO THQ was announcing was going to be an FPS, but they ended up confirming it will be an MMORPG, which sucks SO DAMN HARD. A decent 40k FPS has never been done, and an MMOFPS with the scale only a licence like 40k can allow would have been EPIC. Oh well, it seems Planetside was ahead of its time by years. I really hope we don't have to wait so long for another decent MMOFPS, Tabula Rasa was a joke and Fallen Earth is no better.
