Repulse Interviews: Interview with Scott Hartz

MMORPG: Tell us about Repulse, what does the game bring to the shooter genre?

Scott Hartz: Repulse offers FPS fans an exciting, fast-paced shooting experience. What makes Repulse a unique game is the special moves each class can perform during gameplay. These moves include the Boost Jump that launches players over great distances, the Wall Jump to reach higher locations, the Dodge to avoid incoming fire, and the Cloak to avoid detection. All of these abilities combine to create an exhilarating experience for players. For those who prefer classic FPS games, Repulse offers channels with traditional controls and no special abilities.

MMORPG: How will the pricing model be handled on the game?

Scott Hartz: Repulse offers a wide variety of guns, gear and accessories that are available for both in-game credits and Aeria Points. Most items are available in 1, 7, 15 and 30 day durations and can be found in Repulse’s in-game store.  Players will be pleased to find that most of the weapons we sell for Aeria Points can also be purchased with the credits they earn from gameplay.

MMORPG: What are some of the aspects of combat that are important for players to learn when starting out in Repulse?

Scott Hartz: It is very important that all new players learn to utilize the special Action moves Repulse offers. Learning to use these moves effectively will give players a tremendous advantage in-game. We encourage all new players to complete the Boot Camp levels to learn the moves and get some credits for their trouble. Once they know how to perform the moves, players will need to equip the gear that gives them those abilities.  Every piece of gear in the store has a stat window that tells you what moves it lets you perform.

MMORPG: Can you tell us about the world of Repulse? What type of future are we looking at here?

Scott Hartz: Repulse takes place in the not-too-distant future as Earth has suffered an endless number of natural disasters and conflict. Few resources remain but a newly discovered planet named Marek-7 has a special mineral that could be the key to mankind’s survival. When the initial probe of Marke-7 is destroyed, a number of corporations send soldiers out to the planet to fight for the new mineral. You play as a newly recruited soldier who must fight for control of Marek-7 and the fate of Earth.

Scott Hartz: Repulse has been officially released and is available to everyone across the globe. Players can download the game here.

Scott Hartz: The best part about working on Repulse is that the game is a blast to play. Everyone on my team thoroughly enjoys the game and plays it as much as they can. We love to share our enthusiasm with the community and run daily events between players and Game Masters. I also enjoy working with the developers planning new content and addressing outstanding issues to ensure we provide the best experience possible for our players.
