End of Year Update:

MWO pretty much wasted a whole year on slow and incomplete bugfixing, adding unasked gameplay-elements (i.e. 3PV) and content dripples in at less than a snails pace.
Stuff that should have arrived almost 300 days ago is still in the planning phase and barely worked on.
The new UI 2.0 that is the foundation for every further development of features like the long and eager awaited CW (Community Warfare) but is many months away from completion and early tests showed underwhelming progress and overcomplication - that means CW will probably be away another year or more.

The Balancing efforts to the fundamentally good and fun coregame are overcomplicated and counterintuitive and seldom have the desired effect.
At all there seems to be a severe lack of understanding what impact on the gameplay several of the balancing efforts had and have.

PGIs "Soon(TM)" becomes a joke on the Forums.

The only stuff coming in quite regular is the addition of new Mechs but PGI made a wrong turn very early in the development as in a 3D environment with manual aim Size is absolut a huge thing and pretty much 50% of all Mechs have serious size issues that put them into a disadvantage.
Also Hardpoints have no further Limits which leads to a very few good sized Mechs with favourable hardpoints that fit the best weapon combinations and simply roflstomp over anything else.

This is only countered by the fact that the random PUG-matches are a place to toy around with Mechs you like while the competitive 12mans are a "Minmax Hell" many pilots move away from out of Boredom and Frustration.

Gamemodes still are only 2 variations of the same.

The New Player Experience is at best a Try and Die Endurance Test and offers not more than a very basic Movement Tutorial and some income bonus that simply fades away over time leaving People confused as there is simply next to none ingame info about anything of this Kind of stuff.

As the Matchmaker throws new Players into matches with Veterans in superior Mechs it becomes a slaughtering many times.

Hitdetection (HSR) is better than in the Closed Beta but still far from good gimping weapons like Short Range Missiles to the extreme while favouring Auto-Cannons leaving Lasers in the "not good but usable" spot.

At all the future of this game atvm is very questionable as are the abilites of PGI (be it ressources, be it competence) to develop an AAA-Title.

This is very sad as Battletech is such a rich Universe of Lore and Gameplay that offers so many Options for making a good game i feel my heart almost breaking to see it suffer such a fate.

There is little hope left that 2014 will be the Year of Resurrection - time will tell...

PS: I think i should honour more that PGI has develped Champion Mechs and offers them as Trial-Mechs for Players that have not bought a Mech yet and want to try out some.
These Mechs are pretty good but Veteran Players that have maxed the Skilltree of each of their Mechs get 25% to 50% more Performance out of the same model and the Stock Mech you buy in the Mechbay need Investments of 5 to 10 Million C-Bills to become competitive.
As long you have not grinded this Money and XP to spend you are simply nothing than a Punching Ball in a Mech-Skin.
