Lo, the mighty Oak.

Just a little nut who stood his ground.

It is open beta, but all we have been testing is the core game.

MWO cannot get out of beta until we have 12-man drops for 24 mech matches and community warfare systems in place and tested. That is what will attract guilds/corps. They have yet to perfect matchmaking, they have yet to introduce the PvE element with the Clans, they have yet to perfect the social interface, the prematch lobbies, and introduce the other match modes.

But none of this is remotely viable until the core is solid, and that is where we are in open beta.

It is completely unbelievable that anyone would consider what we are seeing in open beta the equivalent of release when the bulk of the game hasn't even been publically seen.

To dream, perhaps to be.

I agree with some of what you say. The game is still being tweaked. That said WOT, went a long time with garbage matchmaking & missing comunity warfare, a lot of tech trees etc but they still called it a release. Its a work in progress for sure, but these days the term Open Beta does not mean what it used to.
