I remember the pc games and how a joystick made it much more enjoyable. For those that have played, do you think mouse only is feasible too?

I haven't dug my joystick out to give it a try with MWO yet, but I would lean that it's probably not as feasible.  The older MW games either had generous hitboxes or, in MW4's case, kind of wonky aiming sometimes.  MWO is pretty solid in that regard and it lends to using a mouse for precision.

That said, you could probably still do decently with a joystick if you played a heavier mech; I just don't see how you would be able to track light mechs doing 130+ kph.

Could be wrong, though.

There is a rudimentary joystick support but thats it - its not a top priority in development as they face many more urgent challenges on the way to the soon coming Open Beta.
So Mouse + KB is superior atm and for quite a time to come.
