Inns and campsites can be used to restore your health, magic points, and even level you up if you have enough experience. Additionally, a Fountain of Healing can also do these things. The amount that you are able to restore depends on the quality of your chosen place to rest. Inns have free to very expensive rooms. The more you pay, the more you will recover.
Select Equipment/Status from the Main Menu or Click the Equipment/Status Icon at the bottom of the screen to open up the Equipment (inventory) menu and equip weapons and armor.
Equip an item by either double clicking on the item in your inventory or dragging the item onto the equipment page. Some items will have specific requirements. You won’t be able to equip items if your class or character level doesn’t meet those requirements.
Enemies will attack all over your body. Make sure to equip items in each slot to decrease the damage you receive.
Wizardry Online has an in-game mail system. You can use it anywhere in the world. On the main menu, click Mail. Mail has three tabs – Received, Sent, and Create New. You may have a total of 100 saved mail messages. However you may only have a total of 30 sent mail messages. When you create a new mail message you can send items and money in addition to text.
Permadeath in Wizardry Online isn’t necessarily as bad as you may first think. If your character is Soul Rank 1, you’ll have a 100% change to revive. After that, the rate can decrease depending on a variety of factors.
When your character dies, it will first become a Corpse. This is the easiest to recover from. However, your character may instantly turn to Ash if they died in a high-voltage attack/area. If you fail to revive after being a corpse, you’ll be turned to Ash. However, if you fail to revive after being Ash, your character will be Lost. Lost is permadeath. If a character is Lost, they will then not be able to be played again and you will lose all of their belongings. After that you’ll have to delete that character to free up the character slot.
Sometimes while you’re playing, you may just want a bit of privacy. You can change your online status so that others can see or not see you. Choose from Online, Away, and Offline as your status. To do this click [ on your keyboard or go to the main menu and select Change Online Status. A pop-up will appear and you can select which status you want to use.
Status effects can be split into two main categories: physical and mental.
Your story progress, items stored in the Cloak Room, and criminal status will be saved with your Soul. You will also receive a fixed amount of points called Soul Material over time. Soul Material is shared between all characters on a Soul.
The Soul Material you receive can be redeemed for items from Calarde, a Maiden of Isic at Quopaty Temple. Items you can purchase with Soul Material include gems, potions, camps, and more.
Soul Material can be picked up when your character is in Soul Form (after death). It will also begin accumulating automatically over time once your character has reached Soul Rank 3.
Note that you may only carry a certain amount of Soul Material and you will not be able to receive any more once you reach the max. Make sure to use your Soul Material so that you don’t miss out.
There is one type of Soul Material called Life Soul Material that you won’t receive over time. Use Life Soul Material to cover the balance when you do not have enough Soul Material to trade for an item. Note that you can’t trade any other type of Soul Material for Life Soul Material.
To increase your Soul Rank, talk to Calarde at Quopaty Temple. You will need a certain amount of Soul Points to increase your Soul Rank. You’ll receive Soul Points by completing Story Quests and Missions. You may also receive Soul Points by defeating certain particularly strong monsters.
The first level cap is at level 7. To remove the first level cap, you’ll need to reach Soul Rank 2.
Wizardry Online is an open PvP world. This means that even your own friends can attack you. You must be wary of everyone if you are to survive.
If you wish to engage in PvP, it works the same as attacking a mob. You must draw your weapon, target the person you want to attack, and then attack.
There are a few things you should keep in mind, though. There are consequences for every action you take in Wizardry Online. If you elect to attack another player in town, the guards may try to stop you by killing you. You will also become a criminal so other players will try to kill you, too. The more you attack others, the redder your name will become. Other players can then even put bounties on your head!
If you are a victim of a PvP-related death, don’t worry too much! There are a few things that are nicer about this type of death as opposed to a mob-related one.
When you cause problems such as attacking other players or stealing their stuff, you will become a criminal. Players who commit crimes will be shown in yellow. The more crimes they commit, the redder their name will appear.
When players become heavy criminals (red names) the guards in town will attack them. Players that have been defeated by guards will be brought to the prison.
*Note that it is not a crime to attack players marked as criminals.
You can place a Bounty on any player in your blacklist that is currently in criminal status. You may not place bounties on players who aren’t in criminal status, or on players that are currently in prison.
Once a bounty is placed on a player, the next person to kill that player will receive that bounty. Note that bounties are calculated at the Soul level and that all bounties will disappear after a period of time.
Players with a bounty on them that meet certain requirements will give off an aura. If more than 5 souls have placed a bounty on a player, that player will be imprisoned when the next time another adventurer or guard kills them. Imprisoned players may not be deleted, and no other players on the same Soul as an imprisoned player may be used.
Imprisoned players must wait in prison, pay bail, or wait for a bail roll before they can get out. Bail is fixed at twice the value of the bounties placed on the player. Once a player is freed from prison, another player may not place a bounty on their head for a certain period of time.
Learn skills by spending Skill Points on your Skill Tree. You will gain Skill Points every time you level up. Each class may acquire different skills.
(Specific skills and tress for each class will be added later on, either by myself or by the players.)
