A desperation move but still a good move.

Are all demos desperation moves? Or just demos from Blizzard?

When GW2 offers a free trial, are they going to be desparate too?

It will be a smart and innovative move when ANet does it.

Who cares if they stayed? Diablo 3 is not an MMORPG. Does anyone care if Darksiders or DragonAge players stay?

Blizzard only sacrifices some money from the auction house. But they could have guessed that, because, and I say this again, Diablo 3 is not an MMORPG.

One could also argue that they have sacrificed long term gains from the rmah and the sale of expansions for the short term gain of more sold copies and having a "succesful release" before a possible company sale and release dates of competitors, couldnt he?

You could argue it. Unless you have an infallable vision of the future your arguments are of about as much use as 5 1/4 floppy disk to a sea cucumber.

Diablo 3 is an action Rpg.

Retention is near meaningless.

We all know 10 million plus will flock back to the game the second Blizzard releases an expansion.

I'm happy enough with the changes in 1.04

NO ENRAGE TIMERS and INTERESTING AFFIXES is all I wanted. We seem to be getting a few things.

No, it doesn't make the game good, it makes the game worth going back to. I dropped it for a month because I was just sick of the inferno BS. Now it's a fun challenge and not a game of "LOL DIE TO THESE OP ELITE AFFIX COMBINATIONS."

I am now given about a 1-2 seconds to react to things instead of dropping like a lead balloon.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

I'm opposed to nonsensical predictions. There can be enlightening and useful discussions on internet forums. That isn't how you have them.

Well, one is hard pressed if your definition of nonsensical seems to be "i dont agree with that". :)

I illustrated how the (premature) relese of D3 could hurt blizz in the long run, you could have argued against it, but you chose not to, you dismissed it on the basis that i cannot see into the future, i leave it to you to decide to what extent that was enlightening or useful.

Nonsensical as in having no basis in fact. An assertion made without foundation. A pretense of knowing the unknowable. Is that clear enough? I don't argue in a  perfect  vacuum of evidence either way. It would be futile. If people do or do not continue to play D3 for any given period of time  has no relevance to future expansion sales. It is not, as Shorun points out, a MMORPG.
