Against the mass chargeback attempts going on? I mean I thought this might happen and quite honestly I don't know how the blizzard legal team missed it. They should have never ever changed the values on an item. They really should have went the diminishing returns approach. Most CC companies are calling this bait and switch and are behind the consumer on this. I even called my own just to check it out, Capitalone and they have had several complaints considering the situation and agree with bait and switch. Either way I wonder how they will act on this with alot of CC companies agreeing to chargebacks.. alot of banned accounts? Then we'll see chargebacks on diablo 3? Who knows.. i'm curious though. |

So then... when they do a chargeback, aren't they taking money away from the guy that sold the item? Does he get his item back or is that guy just screwed? Does he get to keep the money while Blizzard foots the bill?
This is pretty insane. SWTOR is the greatest mmo ever! |

If we're talking about chargebacks on goods purchased from the RMAH, then I say sic the lawyers on 'em. It was said by Blizzard LONG before the RMAH even went live that IAS was going to be nerfed. People who bought items with this property did so at their own risk. Also, items/skills/etc. get changed ALL THE TIME in games like these. It's nothing new. If we're talking about people wanting refunds on the game, well, they had 30 days, which is incredibly generous in the software industry, where most sales are FINAL. If you can't decide if you like a game or not in 30 days, I don't know what to tell you. Even back in the day Electronics Boutique only gave you 15. Any good lawyer could easily prove that there was absolutely no 'bait and switch'. The customers whining, and the credit card companies siding with them have absolutely no leg to stand on. And lastly, there is the TOS. While not a binding contract of any sort (legally), it does explain things such as refund policies and whatnot, so folks really can't plead ignorance. I'm nowhere near the biggest Blizzard fan in the world, and readily admit that D3 has some issues, but these people demanding refunds / reimbursment are just petulant children who are angry they can't faceroll content anymore. Edit: Blizzard changed the items because it was the most transparent and obvious approach to the problem. I guess being open and honest with your community gets you nothing but hatred, scorn, and chargebacks. |

And that is every account.. not just Diablo. Any account that has the same name and cc info applied to them. |

You would think that CC companies would just laugh at the idea of somebody wanting their money back after spending any amount on an *intangible* in-game item. I could see the convo now; "Are you saying you want a refund on the game itself?" "No, I spent 70$ on a pair of pants in-game and they nerfed it." *click* Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

Hahaha, yeah I know a guy who did the exact same thing once he discovered the incoming nerf (patch isn't even out in the EU yet!)... *facepalm* Originally posted by colddog04 Also no, you pay Blizzard for BattleBalance (technically, it's virtual currency. Believe it or not PayPal money is also virtual currency. When you "send" money there you are just buying "credits") When when you buy an item in the RMAH, Blizzards system deletes what you spent, and pays the seller. It's Blizzard losing out. Although I think the people doing this are idiots (for buying the item in the first place, and for charging back), I find it fucking hilarious! :D I'll be shocked if they ban the accounts of people idiotic enough to purchase something they know is going to be nerfed, these are the same idiots they can milk in the future. Will be interesting to see what happens :P _________ Watching: Darkfall: Unholy Wars, Elder Scrolls Online, ArcheAge, Camelot Unchained, Bless, Black Desert Online, Lineage Eternal, MU 2. How the hell are they going to chargeback a auction item? Paypal has already agreed not to. You chargeback paypal and you're in for a fight. If you chargeback a game purchase Blizzard bans all your accounts and refuses to deal with you again. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

Originally posted by zymurgeist Doesn't have to go through paypal, you add "BattleBalance" to your account directly through Blizzard with a credit card. Blizzard is a small fish when compared to CC companies. The CC companies are definitely not losing to Blizzard in court. Blizzard has to agree to the CC companies terms to be able to even accept CC payments. |

Originally posted by Rednecksith Actually blizzard would need to appeal to the CC company or file suit. I don't know the mass at which this is happening but if a few thousand people chargeback for "bait and switch" then blizzard could see its name on a blacklist. What makes it interesting is how it'll all unfold, the early damages could really harm blizzard even if they can be fixed or "justly" corrected later. |

Pretty soon these greedy companies will bring down all kinds of regulations on our heads for virtual items. Who knows, maybe someday we will have to start claiming ingame gold as income on an irs form. Sounds crazy doesn't it? But if you can equate ingame gold with real world money, the government will want a piece. |
