There is an ongoing Q and A on Reddit right now with Jay Wilson and a few other of the guys at Blizzard.

Here is the link: http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/uoooj/i_am_we_are_wyatt_cheng_andrew_chambers_and_jay/

After reading through some of their responses...it has come to my attention that Jay Wilson is a godaweful game director who shouldnt be in the position he is in. Jay, if you read this, go find a new job. You cant make a good design decision if your life depended upon it.

Half of the responses from Jay borderline on PR styled question dodging. He tags players who want details on WHAT SKILLS DO and the math involved (numbers) as theorycrafters and writes them off.

He says the game doesnt offer any other forms of free play because they wanted to "FOCUS ON THE STORY"....over and over and over.

Its really hard to mess up a Diablo 2 like game... i mean there have been dozens upon dozens of clones and games that built upon the mechanic. How he could do so little and still manage to mess it all up is beyond me.

Why not offer good drops from bosses after normal mode and before inferno? Jay: "it was my decision", he thought it would be more fun and offer more end game.

After reading his responses, I actually don't think he really does any work on the game (as you suggested). He seems more like a PR guy than a development guy.

I think they gave him the label, so people who are upset at the quality of the new franchise would have somebody to blame. From his appearance to his demeanor and his substanceless responses , he seems to be nothing more than the rodeo clown.

WyattCheng seems to be more involved among those lines, but he might be PR as well.. it's really impossible to tell.

1) Progression is just fine. I prefer this skill system >>> more than the skill ponit tree one. You can experiment and have more variety of play.

2) You can roll alts to check out other classes. It is a pain to roll alts on the small class to try out builds.

3) Longevity? This is not an MMO. I have already been playing this for weeks and probably will for more weeks. That is long enough for any game.

1) In theory, not in reality, apart from "respecs".

2) But.. would you? Inferno again, grind for more money again...

3) So you actually agree with the OP, but say that it does not matter, fair enough. :)

Flame on!

1) Well, in the reality of how i play, i have at least used 5-6 different builds, and there are always tweaks. It is the same for others i know who is playing. In fact, didn't Blizz says officially, the most popular build only makes up of 2-3% of the characters. So yeah i think in reality, this is much better in terms of build variety and play style.

2) I already did. Even if not for INFERNO, i like to try all character and diffrent builds. They all play very differently, with different skill syneries.

3) Yeah. For something like Diablo, you need good value of play .. and weeks (actually i have been playing seen release .. so roughly 3 weeks) are fine. It is likely that i will play it for 2 months .. may be 3 months top. I am not looking for a multi-year game.

Well, depends on definition, that number probably takes builds which differ only having blur instead of glass cannon as different. Not that i didnt use different builds, but i dont in inferno (apart from trying to find out which one is BEST, which is bad), disint with chaos nexus for 40% extra and aoe damage was fun, up until you stop being in a position to take few (or in some cases more) hits which come with the need to channel, and given the proclaimed NEED for that kind of difficulty both from players and devs, i am sceptical of it changing.
