I'm rather puzzled at how long they actually been developing this thing..

And as I been hearing the cost for this game has been HUGE.. Where did they put all this money ?

the mid act films ? or the voice overs ?

It's a  rather small world , and most of the dungeons come with the same reused corners and tunnels and sometimes the same rooms over and over and over again..In result the dungeons feels boring and you just want out as quickly as possible.

Where is the faboulous design in this concept ?

The INGAME cutscenes are probably the worst I have seen in a very long time, they are just little more zoomed in and really shows us how poor D3 graphics are. Evidently well hidden(fog) during normal gameplay..

Why did they not make real cutscenes like Mass Effect or Dragon Age..If they want to have spoken cutscenes , why not make good ones ?

If this game had been made by any other company then Blizzard , players would be all over this issues.

My conclusion is that this game tries to hide it's flaws by making faboulous act ending films and hiring super good voice actors..

Almost everything else is below par on everything released today, atleast as I see it.

Last but not least, Its a rather fun game with good gameplay, for a while..But the 60 Euro they charge, that's one hell of a price for this game

they started development on the game 3 times. so allot was tossed in the previous engine versions which were thrown for better graphics.

that style isn't blizzard's. part of why i didn't personally buy it. also i expected them to underestimate their success enough to cause issues server side. personally i'm looking at torchlight 2; it is 1/3 the price and many things similar or better than D3 seems.

Maybe they just exagerate the cost to safe them on company taxes later?

Eg. SWTOR content and their 200 million budget does not compute for me to be realistic.

Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language :)

People seem to think that it's been in development since LoD launched, but that's not the case. Granted, it was long, but it wasn't that long. Based on what iformation I've seen, it's been going for about 5ish years (give or take). It was first announced in 2008, as I recall, but there wasn't much to show then.

And, if you don't mind me asking, where are you seeing cost speculations? I'd kinda like to see what the cost of the game may have been.

It was in this thread I saw people speculating in the costs..

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/644/view/forums/thread/352137/Diablo-3-63-million-in-1-week.html

So your basing your development cost for D3 based on a MMOrpg.com thread? 0.o

Now that truly is funny. No offense but thats just pure speculation, I even posted somethings in that thread, which were all just guesses.

Get a little more information. [mod edit]

Yes It's speculations, but do you see any numbers in my post, I use the term HUGE etc..THats a sign of speculations , and this post is discussing these speculations..

Without any doubt the development cost for Diablo is higher than many games out there, the Mid act films and the high quality voice overs are bound to make this game a high bill..What I'm refering to is the meat and butter of the true game, the actual campaign is rather short, and that is what they have been working on all these years..

Now I know the actual replayability and such is very high and popular among Diablo fans due to the diffrent difficulty levels etc, but did these levels give any extra devlopment time to create ? I do not think so, not by much (A guess) , since there are but a few enimies that act diffrently..

So In conclusion ; to me atleast ..I would have prefered a larger ACTUAL gameworld for those 60 Euros i paid.

Yeah it looks like that's where all the resources went.

Historically, long development times do not help a game at all because it usually means they have to restart the project somewhere in between. Blizzard in particular scrapped half its systems closer to launch...

I'm with another poster here, though. I don't care how long something was developed or how much money they had. I don't believe in that. I only believe in talent and passion of the developers.

I like the game as it came out and I'm not gonna hope it was something it is not.

Conditioning your worker-bees  and make them buy your decent game millions of times (over 6 million already and growing fast) while praising it as the second coming ignoring massive flaws like lack of weapon animations does cost a lot of money and time i bet......

On a more serious note ...the exact costs and time invested is something we cant know.

But why should they have hurried up more WOW was going strong why release the game when all the bees are happy? WOW started bleeding so now was the perfect time to release it(without dropping Subs i doubt we would play D3 already) and with the RMAH they made sure to still have monthly income from the game so the Bleeding in WOW doesn't hurt as much and they can take it easy and invest time into Titan which will be a shiny new Beehive for there drones for years to come you gotta have to hand it to Blizzard they sure do know what they are doing.

Now don't get me wrong D3 isn't a bad game i would give it an 80/100 (even tho after playing Dungeon Siege 3 the combat of D3 feels like a step or 2 back again)

You paid 60 euros I paid a lot less. 27 pounds for this game is nothing. Also it hasnt been in development for more than 4-5 years.

Probably took them a long time to make all of those useless items that drop. And nightmare mode, which is useless in itself.
