It is actually an open world action rpg. No instances and no hand holding. It's dark, gritty and best of all it isn't cartoony.
Enjoy - http://www.grimdawn.com/ |

The whole backing thing they got going on for perks is kinda... meh. Kinda worries me when i see stuff like that but if it works awesome. Seems like a leap of faith to support this game. |

I feel cheated and ripped off from Blizzard after I saw this in the works. It seems these guys at Crate accomplshed more in 2+ years than the entire Blizzard D3 team has in 6+ yeats of D3 development. It might be a leap of faith I agree but these guys are Crate know how to make a good rpg. They are former members of Iron Lore. Titan Quest was pretty good and sold well. :) |

"...have already invested years of time into it to get it to where it is today but there is a lot of content left to build and with only two full-time people..." Then it goes on to say how they hope to have it finished in their lifetimes...loI think imma stick with D3. Sounds interesting though! |

Diablo maybe a great game but its been 10 years and 9 months since D2 Sooo a major corp like Blizzard has been working on D3 for how long and you mock a indie dev for not having a game out thats even better in 2-3 years time? Stick with the Big time developer that spends aolmost more money on Advertising and PR then actual game developement. Doesn't mean you'll get a better game. Me i'd rather take my chances and support the indie. Beside no reason both can't be great games. (more choice is always a good thing) Personally D3 doesn't look that deep or complex I'm guessing in another 18 months I'll be wanting a game like Grim Dawn to fill its place and thats the time frame the Crate developers seem to be aiming for a release |

Originally posted by Aori Well they aren't newbies they did help produce Titan Quest at Iron Lore. they also aren't trying to make a dumbed down cross plateform game for Xbox/ Ps3 /Pc they are just working on a strong PC game so that also makes things easier. If you read they have been doing the last 2 years of developement pretty much at their own expense and are almost to Alpha with a playable demo. (So they seem confident enough in themselves to devote their own time and money) Is backing them for $18 really that big of a risk? Your other choice really is just to sit here moaning on the forums about how the big publishers/devs don't put out very good games anymore while doing nothing to promote change. No offense ment to anyone in this thread for some $18 is bit more then for others, but sometimes if you want something better and want something different then you do have to take at least a small risk. So far IMO the Grim Dawn game play videos look better then any of the diablo3 videos I've seen or what I've personally played in beta. Also I enjoyed Titan quest at least as much as D2 so I have at least as much faith in Crate to deliver a good game as I do in the Big (money) seeking Developers/publishers. YMMV |

LE looks incredible though. Every time they go in to showing how the controls will work, I keep thinking, "damn that would be awesome on the PSVita", minus the part where you're stuck at home on a portable device just to play it online. Time for a 5g+ Vita. |

Originally posted by winter That its a tiny company, during a time when companies are folding like mad, that has no firm release date and posted on its website of unknown dates and hopes? Yes. Thats exactly what I got out of it. I would not be surprised if EA doesnt buy this up for $50,000 just to bury it. |

Originally posted by winter I'm not really moaning about anything so i'm not sure who you're refering to. I like diablo 3 and i like what blizzard has done with it, i didn't at first but it really is a better game than its elders. I have nothing against these people trying to make a good game and i hope they succeed.. but it honestly sounds more like a fairy tale. Me and many others just aren't in the position to donate anything money to something that is a gamble. I have to know what i will be getting not what i may get. I'm all for a better game, if they can do it great if not then my wallet and hopes didn't get burned. |

To be honest, I don't see how a small understaffed indie game can "replace" Diablo 3. MInd you, I do enjoy playing indie games but I found most of them very low on the content side. Anyways it really amuses me how so many people assume that Blizzard worked on Diablo 3 all the time between Diablo 2 and now. They probably started working on it 6-12 months before announcing it in 2009/2010. As for replacements, Path of Exile, I hear a lot about this game but I am not impressed. I am not expecting much from Torchligh either. Torchlight 1 was a short game with OK gameplay but nothing interesting. Diablo 2 was miles ahead of Torchlight even without considering the multiplayer part and it was released in 2000. I think Torchlight will be an OK game but nothing special. I still haven't seen anything to convince me otherwise except for all the Diablo haters who praise Torchlight like there's no tomorrow just to hate on D3. |
