Do you need some kind of invite for Smite or do you just download it?

Also, just by looking through the character rooster, Support seems...meh. Is it really so? Also, how are the mages?

I am asking this since Smite is the last MOBA that I did not play(look, DoTA 1=DoTA 2. I had Four years of that tyvm). And I thought, Hey! why the heck not?

Seeing how I am mostly mage/support player and seeing how SMITE has whooping two supports(Ra+Hel), it makes me cautious...
