It was a great Beta. Only problem is the fact people are asking for old school D&D open world PVP. The gear based D&D set up it has would make for a great open world PVP. Chance to loot someone like Asherons Call, or Daoc earning RPs to gain a stronger character progression.

I think that genre is gone. There is too many younger players and MMO companies who cater to player grief. Thats why WoW has took so many changes and not for the better. So where is the future game market with less attention to QQ players?

I am hoping it is TESO. If not I fear for the FUTURE of MMO pvp.

I think if my head, dark fall, the repopulation, and a select few have the competitive pvp you are looking for. Alot of games have he feel bad pvp taken out of it so people don't QQ and they lose money. What makes me wonder is where's are the theme park mmos going to end and a return to theme/open world like old SWG and games like Anatchy online. Massive drives like eve oine makes people think twice over just being a dick and hopping servers.  Tue Feb 12 2013 12:30PM Report

Boraell writes: Theres a reason the 'open world ego-gank fest' games are hard to find, only a very small minority want to play them. The fact that you consider those that prefer pve and 'controlled' pvp as QQ players says it all though. Tue Feb 12 2013 2:01PM Report
Vorthanion writes: It seems to be a common theme with PvPers.  They appear to be their own worst enemy as they can't seem to discuss anything without insulting non-PvPers by calling them names like carebears and QQers.  I'm glad hardcore PvP games are difficult to find and even more so, difficult to keep open for business.  The way you behave in the community, you deserve all the trouble you get. Boraell, the reason "open world pvp" isnt a popular as controlled ones are that not company is doing right currently besides EVE. and EVE has a large community so you are very wrong sir.

pvp is fun with full loot for many reasons, it brings the value of the character up and lets the player feel more invested with the game. Anyone can create a game where there is no risk/reward and make it a time sink. Not everyone can make the player feel unique setting apart from other players, we have found the younger crowed cry when this happens because they dont want to invest the same amount of time and the "unique" player.

The open world game play has a large community being that the orignal MMOs were about open world, full loot, creating cities pvp.

Grym writes: When you say, "original MMOs" I can only assume you mean Ultima Online.  Sure, when UO came out it had a large fan base, mainly becase it was the only game in town.  However, it began losing subscriptions due to the very things you are defending.  Because of the full loot function, people were afraid to venture very far outside the cities.  It wasn't until after they instituted the shards that people began to come back to the game.  Players should not be forced to PvP.  I support seperate PvP servers for those like you.  Unfortunately for your demographic, history shows PvP servers don't attract the numbers.  This leads to the incesant, "Games need to be open world, full PvP threads.  Fact is, most gamers don't want to deal with it.  So, call us QQ or carebear if you like.  We don't spend our money so we can be griefed and driven away by douche bags.
