So far i have had about 20 hours of fun, and it didnt cost me anything..  Doesnt that sound great to you?

Apparently it is only in the MMORPG business that companies suck for trying to make money...

Why is it that fantasy trolls are vulnerable to fire, but internet trolls thrive on flame wars?

This. Doing your daily's will give you 1000's of AD, convert a fraction of that for all the ID Scrolls you'll ever need. Just something you have to figure out, then all good.

That's something I never got about people who complain about these kinds of things.  They only examine the viability of getting these kinds of items through the cash shop, and completely ignore all other options, including through the vendors.  Its frustrating how narrow minded these people can be, just to prove a point about how "greedy" or "corrupt" a company is, simply because they have a cash shop to fund a game so that players can actually play the game.

This is correct, however I am more pro individual than pro company. What I mean by this is the game could be clearer about some things. For example is there a manual explaining this? Does Wiki (Checking now...) have this? No it doesn't. It should be searchable by : "scroll of identification" and then a page should state "Can be purchased for x AD's at _________"

So I get a person being confused, I was at first, then I saw some available for AD, then I saw how many AD's I get for dailies, then filed under, no biggy.

It's not confusion; it's flt out intentional ignorance and ignoring of the facts.  All you have to do is visit the cash shop once to see that you can buy ID scrolls in the cash shop, visit the AD vendor once to see that you can buy ID scrolls from the AD vendor, and run over ID scrolls after mobs drop them once or twice to see that they drop from mobs.  Most if not all of the people complaining about the ID scrolls should (and do) know this, but flat out ignore it, because admitting it would weaken their position.  They are like court prosecutors; it is their "job" to make the defendant look guilty, even if they know that the defendant is innocent.  They maniuplate information and do everything they can to keep the court from knowing the truth (that is not to say that prosecutors are soulless scumbags, but it's really hard to accurately describe their jobs without demonizing them).

I do believe in conspiracy theories... the one's that are actual. You are sort of proposing that here. I dunno, I think it's a certainty that peple will see that they drop, however you will get more to identify then what will just drop. The next part about AD's I can see someone playing for a while before figuring it out. Now I will buy that people are leary of FTP Cash Shops, waiting for that big "Gotcha", yeah that happens and that is part of the response here imo. However, why not just quickly educate and move on, instead of attacking and labelling. Sure they came in hot, but you can elevate the converation or subdue it... which is the better approach?

I would if I could.  I have yet to come across one that isnt' adamant in their position that "PWE is scamming us and doing everything they can to milk us for all we are worth with their cash shop items".  Every time I submit proof that they are wrong, they either blow it off or find something else (which is almost always a straw man fallacy/argument, and if it is not I apologize for the confusion) to complain about.  These people are incorrigible.

So, if you have 400 chests and 20 keys, than I'm assuming you haven't been buying keys to open all them chests.  So much for the cash cow...

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

In gw2 they said chest keys will be obtainable in game. And indeed they are.

Now gw2 chests are useless. But how about ID scrolls ?

Player runs out of them, and  cant equip that super shiny drop he just got in that super hard dungeon he sweated over for hour.

So he have to grind astral diamonds for hour. But it takes patience, spare time and lack of curiosity. He probably got few equipment pieces too.

What I am saying is that PW is keeping ID scroll drop good now. Waiting for people to get hooked.

And than they will turn the switch. You will see...

You don't need ID scrolls at 60 once you acquire the basic 60 greens you want. Money is not a factor in this game really and the only reason you would want to ID them at that point is money. As a 60 Trickster Rogue I just pass on greens.

If you're despearate you can invoke. I think ID scrolls are 35AD ea. But I think the higher level ones don't drop as much and cost more.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

This.

This again and again.

This needs to be a sticky here , on the official forums , and in every whining chat I see in game.

People need to realize to just sell the trash unidentified , and not use ID scrolls on every crap drop they get.

Even if i use ID scroll on each and every item i still have loads of spare. And even if you do run out of it..buying them through AD is so cheap, do your dailies for rough AD and you will have more than enough ID scrolls.

OP is just another mis informed player.

Yeah and then there being an endless stream of people online, it gets repetitive no doubt. I think we've debunked that ID Scrolls are a cash grab. One can get 50+ per 1000 AD's, that's a lot of ID's and very little AD. So if you are out there, arguing PWE is satan over the Scroll ID's.... you are mistaken. Next issue!

What they will make money on is...

Bag and bank space for hoarders

Enchantments for the impatient min-maxers (they drop like candy) who can't wait for a drop or must have the ultimate enchantment always, even as they level and replace stuff by the hour... second or third best in slot does the job just fine

Respecs for the fickle

Character slots for altholics (this is the one that will get me  )

Prestige mounts, companions, dye etc for the vain

Keys for the purple chest gamblers.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but this game is much more playable than most other F2P games without spending a dime. As a matter of fact, it's on par with GW2 in that respect except this one is not B2P so we don't even have to pay for the initial game.

True enough.

You can play Neverwinter (and probably most F2P games) on 2 levels:

  1. Spend 2 or 3 or 4 times more than you would on a sub game, and have have access to quite a few nice toys (that you would would have had access to as part of your "normal" sub in a P2P game).
  2. Spend very little (or nothing) and play it as a generic game. You'll rarely have the "best" of anything, unless you dedicate your life to playing the game.

There is absolutely NOTHING special about Neverwinter. It's only claim to fame is that it's (loosely) based on 4E DnD, and it's F2P. Compared to almost every AAA MMO launched in the last 5 years, it's sub-par. But it's free to play.

Oh, did I mention that it was F2P ? It's not bad for a F2P game...

Just remember it's FREE TO PLAY

This is the classic argument I hear from people so attached to their sub games they are unwilling to try anything new.  There is absolutely nothing you need from cash shops in alot of games. GW2 and now neverwinter are just two examples.  Yes some games cheat you, forcing you to pay to get end game content or giving you extra xp that without which you have to grind.  The days of F2P Gimmicks that are pay to win are mostly over annnd F2P is taking off as the new dominent monitization model for mid budget games.  Some people just have a harder time accepting change than others i guess.

Sorry but the OP really is wrong. I dump tons of ID scrolls in my guild bank all the time for other guildies.

However if all you do is queue for pvp and skirmishes you arent gonna find any ID scrolls otherwise they are the most common drop in game.

I actually use  ID Scrolls on almost every unidentified green..so i can vend it for max price and have more cash for healing potions. I've almost depleted my supply of ID scrolls a few times but I find the foundry quests seem to drop shitloads. So I run through a few mid to long duration foundry quests to restock my ID scrolls..plus i can satisfy a daily and usually get a decent piece of gear as well. Quite a few of the foundry quests are really well done too.

Now it will probably be harder to restock ID scrolls at higher levels..idk.

Keys still drop in GW2, they are just VERY rare.

I think I logged in 1400+ hours and obtained 2 outside of the beta and personal story rewards, both well after a month of release.

As for ID scrolls, I've had to buy a stack occasionally, but you earn far more AD than the cost of scrolls so I don't see the problem.  Certainly not the drain you are claiming it is.  I'm 60 BTW.  I don't foresee there being some secret switch they are going to turn on either, they are already making a fortune off whales buying their gear and enchants and rushing 60 anyway that they have no reason to force the P2W aspect down people's throats.

Is it recommended to NOT use the ID scrolls when you are still leveling or just use them sparingly? I am only level 8 and I have a few greens I've looted and the gear I'm wearing is common whites.

So for example:

equipped: Common white weapon - lvl 4

inventory: unidentifid  green weapon lvl 6  for my class<----should I ID it and replace my common lvl 4 weapon? (I'm lvl 8)

You need to buy (or get from drops) higher level ID scrolls anyway at certain points (I think 30 and 60) so might as well just use the ID scrolls when you get them.  If you do have to buy more scrolls a stack is very cheap in terms of diamonds and you'll get way more diamonds that you can spend on scrolls through normal play of the game anyway.  The drop rates of scrolls seem to be about equal to green drops, with maybe slightly more green/blue/epic drops when running dungeons than scrolls.  Even if you run nothing but group dungeons the cost for scrolls is very minor and certainly not the cash cow the OP thinks they'll be.
