Neverwinter is going to be one of those title's you play for years. With tons of end game with the Foundry, and the "Role Play", this is going to be a great game. Sadly i'm not a lifetime member of STO or CO and did not purchase a "Founders Pack" for RaiderZ (a great title too) so i'm probably not going to be in the BETA. For those lucky one's going to be in BETA, please post everything you know! Especially about the foundry! I CAN'T WAIT! NEVERWINTER AND FORGOTTEN REALMS FOREVER!!!!! |

I was excited for Neverwinter until I saw the bad combat animations. I know it is still in the development phase, but if they don't fix that, I won't be playing it. I am glad you are excited for it though.

Cryptic + Perfect World, somehow i doubt it will be the best anything ever.

'Free to play'
So no sub fee or ingame shop then?
nice. "going into arguments with idiots is a lost cause, it requires you to stoop down to their level and you can't win" |

There will be an ingame item shop but it's all cosmetics and some weapons but you cant get the weapons unless you are that level. For example: if i'm level 14 and I bought a level 20 sword I can't use it until i'm level 20. Plus Andy Valasquez stated that all the in game weapons are better than the shop weapons (they just look better). But to answer any questions, YES all fully free to play, EVERYTHING! EVEN ALL FULL ACCESS TO THE FOUNDRY! SO EXCITED! |

I was sure I was going to pass on NWO until I saw the foundry... this is pretty much a modders dream MMO. It really depends on the f2p setup. If it's assinine I'll pass without ever looking back. I really wish this was one of the titles going the b2p route, though as I said I'm in a wait and see state.

Originally posted by Allacore69 True. Sorry but go take a good look at the C-Store in STO. A lot of p2w, especially in the pvp sphere. This game will be worse because , the only income will come from the c-store. It will be especially well entwined with the Foundry. believe what you want to believe. Cryptic is notorious for being vague and stretching the truth. They are very good at making their games look very pretty before anyone has ever seen them. Like a lot of companies incidently. They always lead off any advertising with look at our customization. Which incidently isn't all that wonderful, but I'm sure you'll argue otherwise. APB's was better by the way. Enjoy , this dud, it's about all that Cryptic is capable of. They'll use an outdated engine incapable of they fantasies they'll promise to go with the outdated graphics. |

I'll definitely play Neverwinter to see how it connects to the lore in the novels but I dont really have high hopes for it being a good game or having a fair cash shop.
And I thought the Free to play option for Champions was horrible.

I dunno, we are talking Cryptic, and PW doesn't bring warm fuzzys either, I'll believe it when I see it.

For me, it will all depend on how good the combat his and if there's any PvP. The foundry sure sound awesome and the cash shop well, if they don't make you pay for content and if the game have PvP and they don't sell OP items, I couldn't care less about the cash shop. I don't think it will be the best f2p ever but I could be one good "coop" MMO to play with friends, especially if you love the NW lore. IMO, it could be a lot better than what DDO has to offer.

Right now it looks like a standard single player RPG. I normally jump at the chance to play anything Forgotten Realms, but I am not seeing any real reason to get excited by this title. I even bought the updated Baldur's Gate recently. Maybe if they had marketed Nevewinter as an updated RPG for co-op play I would feel better about the game footage they released. I am very happily surprised that Foundry is going to be available for everyone as part of the base game install. I think GMs and modders will make something better than Cryptic can. SO there's something to keep me interested until I see some more development. F2P has me concerned the most. While I love the Forgetten Realm setting with the DnD ruleset, even I can agree it is slower paced than most newer games. F2P usually means they slow the game down more to get you to buy XP potions and others items. Adding those two slow mechanics together make me think the gameplay will really drag. |

Originally posted by Jalitan Foundry will be great. If you have a look at STO foundry and how people do really creative things with simple tools you will be surprized. You can easily re-create any PnP campaign using mechanics of STO foundry so NW foundry should be able to do better. It is possible to make vast maps with 20-40 sub-quests and a simple main quest of exiting the door. The maps are connected in a quest(called mission in STO) and quests can be bundled as a campaign. They make many non-combat diplomatic missions too. One limitation bites and that is you can't assign loot to a sub-quest. But it is understandable as in MMO it can break the level-progression when exploiters start exploiting it. |

I really can't wait for this myself, and get my hands on the foundry. I loved making persistent worlds in Neverwinter Nights, so these modding tools will be so much fun!

I actually got to play this at PAX EAST after waiting an hour or so for like a 10 minute mini dungeon. I got to play a sword and board dark elf, i forgot the class though. For a f2p game it looked and ran nice. I think if they are careful with this title and offer a good f2p model it could be a serious contender.

As much as I will love Neverwinter, Phantasy Star Online 2 will be better. Neverwinter will not live up to the hype (but what games do nowadays), but it will likely be far closer to our wildest dreams than to our worst fears, and to all of you judging the game and believing it will be an absolute lemon *COUGH*AG-VUCK*COUGH* remember that you have not played it yet. There is a 99.99% chance that nobody who posts on this thread will have played it, so all of your opinions are baseless, whether they be good or bad. But I am pretty sure many people have already played Phantasy Star Online 2, and I am also pretty sure that those of you who have will agree with me that Phantasy Star Online 2 will win the best f2p ever award. Since when is Tuesday a direction? |

I do not see what you think you see. If you want bad combat animations, look at games like Vanguard, WAR or even DF:UW for really bad animations. |
