I don't know if I like telegraphs. It makes combat too predictable. Actually, there is not prediction at all. You have a guy saying "hey, I'm gonna shoot this cannon straight down this line, you be sure to get out of the way."

I like spontaneous, seemingly unpredictable combat. Visceral combat where you have to look for subtleties in combat animations, or where your knowlege of an enemy's class has been honed to the point where you can predict what they will do next. The kind of knowlege that comes from fighting that class over and over.

Telegraphic combat may be too dumbed down for me.

Freezzo writes: They said (in their pax presentation) that it will start off simple, but at higher levels mobs get more types of telegraphs, or bigger, less warning time, etc. This means you must react faster and think on your feet. "If I go left and he also has this ability, would that mean that that wall could get me locked in this area?" I think that's the kind of questions there will be. It makes for skill based combat, but also for accessible combat, which is just as important. And I don't expect it to be easy in the very least (at least not after the start of the game). I lol'd at barfing snail (2:44)... gonna hafta get me a screenshot or animation of that and make it my avatar everywhere. xD

Also incredibly amazing that a post-WoW MMO-developer would risk a rather comical (but iconic) style of design. That's gutsy and seemingly makes for some funny non-generic combat moments.

I dunno, it seems like they want this mmo to play and feel like the majority of the franchised action platformers that you see on consoles. If its the direction they want to go, I am looking forward to see how they make this harder at higher levels and with bosses and such.
