housing is the most useless feature a game could possebly have
Thu Aug 02 2012 9:52AM ReportI value housing and it would be both a draw for me to play this game and retainer once I did.
So... useless? A feathure that brings in certain players and then helps retain them for longer?
Hardly.
I think what you meant is 'I personally do not like housing'.

Thu Aug 02 2012 6:58PM ReportI like the housing aspect in games. But even if I wouldn't like it, this trailer would turn me over :) Awesome
These kinda trailers get much more attention than the fully rendered, 'great-looking but empty' ones...
"where did it come from? no idea. but thanks to Protostar, you can put a house on it" LOL
Fri Aug 03 2012 12:41AM Report@Ingvar The point of housing, other than socialization aspects, is that originally it was thought that mmorpgs were to be immersive games where we could escape from the toil of real life and engage in something that seems very real to us - albeit in a different universe.
Secondly, what developers have long forgotten, is that if you can figure out a way to get players to INVEST a bit of THEMSELVES into an mmorpg, it is that much harder to just quit and move on. Housing, therefore, offers a chance for a sense of escapism, gives us a place to put a bit of ourselves in, and adds to something else long lost in the genre - creativity.
I hope this helps ;)
