For the purpose of this thread I am defining magic find (MF) vaguely as a stat that increases the chance to find high quality loot by some percent when compared to drops without the stat.
This is not a new concept and we have seen numerous incarnations of it. The current example i'm thinking of is in GW2 MF is a stat that appears on armor, weapons ect and increases the odds of finding rare items from enemy drops. There is a trade off with using gear with MF on it, which is you trade combat/support potency for the chance of getting better drops because the MF stat takes the spot of other stats (i.e. boosts to health and damage). Some have argued that the use of MF is selfish in group play and can damage a group's chance of successfully completing a dungeon, ultimately discouraging some players from forming groups with strangers (pugs).
What are your thought?
