Personally, I've been in the land of MMORPGs for a long time; World of Warcraft, Lineage 2, Aion, Last Chaos, Rift, SWTOR... Been there, clicked that. Eventually though; no matter what the story of an MMORPG is, you get bored... and it is not because the game has been badly made or anything, its because you feel like its same'ish... and essentially brings no difference to you in the long run.
Then I heard about this: RaiderZ.
Now, before I start... I'm a hardcore fan of Capcom's "Monster Hunter" series. And my friend happened to make the mistake of telling me "It's like Monster Hunter"... the fate was sealed there. I instantly popped up three new tabs on my Chrome; researched every single corner of this "RaiderZ".
The game itself looks much like you'd expect an MMO to look; with the difference of gameplay.
You will find no "Click here to win" or "Click this for BOOM" in RaiderZ... The game will give you basic skills; basic items and basic knowledge and then send you on your way to battle a big mean beastie with a tree for a tootpick. How you beat this beast? Nobody knows.
This is where RaiderZ goes into its stride, you have to observe the monster, learn its moves, learn when to dodge and wait for your teammates to do the same.
Yes, I did say "teammates"... The game gives you one, most important tip: "
Never forget that. The game may start off easy, like whacking a squirrel over the head or something... but there will be a point where you will be running through the mountains when all of a sudden; one of the mountains gets cross about something and decides to attack you. This is one of the best parts; the game challenges you, and you got to be prepared for it.. and if you're not THAT strong; bring more teammates!
The game allows up to 15 people to team up and battle some of the nastiest foes.
RaiderZ has no class system; the way you play depends on the weapon you're using. The skills you get are determined only by you. You pick what you want.
On the topic of weapons, this game has a crafting system... for some of you this will be familiar. Once you defeat the monster, you will gain bits and pieces of that monster; once you have enough pieces of the monster you can create the weapon/armor piece that you want.
This game will not be easy; This game will not be fun at times... but no feeling compares to that - of killing a monster that took you a long time to figure out.
RaiderZ is the most teamwork-oriented game I've seen around, it will be free to play, it has great graphics and with each day it spends in development, it will become more awesome. I will be there; on the day RaiderZ goes live.
