I don't trust Trion Worlds.

The only MMO they've made was RIFT, a WoW-Clone themepark through & through.

Their RTS isn't impressive whatsoever, and now they're making another MMO interconnected to a TV show of which are known to be highly chaotic beasts in terms of the entertainment industry.

The novelty of an MMO being tied to a TV show is interest at best, but once the novelty wears off do they really believe it will have any significant impact on the longevity of the title?

Lastly, the primary concern with Defiance being horribly dumbed down is that it is being released on PC, Ps3, and Xbox360. The latter two having their eyes on 2013 or 2014 Christmas.

Obviously there are a multitude of issues arrising from Defiance that should concern a great deal of players. Most notably, that no MMO ever released (Save for FF11) has ever done well if ever released on consoles.

Not to mention Microsoft's horribly locked-down issue with "patches" when it comes to products on their platform (the reason Dust 514 isn't going to be on Xbox360).

I'll judge Defiance in a concrete frame of mind once it hits Open Beta. However, this game should NOT be hyped whatsoever at all without going hands-on with it for more than a week.

Ahk, can't edit my post (i hit save too early :(! ).

I meant to clarify that the newer platforms for Playstation & Xbox are coming out 2013 or 2014 Christmas. Which is a large concern for a new MMO ever touching consoles.

Also, any MMO ever designed for Consoles (again, save for FF11) has always been horribly dumbed down so Console players can play with PC and not be negatively affected.

(go look them up for yourself =P)

dunno but rift tho i am more into sandboxes is one of the best themeparks out there. somewhat underplayed but still way better then most.

i find trion to be exellent at keeping the game fresh and new... i mean gw 2 is about to release with 3 faction rvr ? trion brings it to rift first..wow expansion, rift expansion just a few weeks out :) i am not actually playing but rift is a really amazing game nevertheless with devs really kicking.

they keep a player busy like noone else so far. i for one think that let's say in WoW they are laughing straight into your face with like 4 patches between the expansion for the 15$/month on top.

If a company can pull it off, then Trion World. The best game company out there atm.

@morbuskabis,

I wouldn't call them the best "developement" company, but i'd call them the best "Customer Service and Product Polish" company.

All in all, they've shown no proof they can produce a good MMO yet, and the gimmick of it being tied to a real TV show isn't going to keep it.
