Well there you have it folks - Defiance will be B2P!
***NO SUB required*** so B2P model seems to be the most popular as of late! |

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp. |

From the other thread..should have posted here:
This game is supposed to be subscription based (going from the description here) but the pre-order options all say 'No Subscription'. Is it that there is a sub but pre-orders get the 'bonus' of not having a monthly cost? (And the Gamestop $150 box mentions among everything else, DLC Season pass?) |

I assumed it would be B2P since it will be on PS3, XBOX, and PC. I'll pass on it, because it's not an mmorpg, besides that, the kiddies and teens will flock to it, but I hope the t.v. show will be good.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |

The doctors say his chances are 50/50...but there's only a 10% chance of that. |

I too read about the pre-orders on the homepage of this very site in an official news article.

DLC kinda makes me cringe though... How often will it occur... Are we talking DLC is $10/20/30 a hit?
This is why I wish games had subs...
I don't think there is any information on how much the in-game currency conversion is going to be. |

I'm glad it's not sub because I think that would have sunk the 360 and PS versions of the game and made the PC game a hard sell but I really want to see more details on the cash shop model before I plop down any money. |

Hum, yeah "DLC season pass", what the hell does that mean, the word " season" period of time...I have no problem paying for expansions and cash shop fluff, but if content is restricted to time based fee requirements, I'm not impressed, B2P means you buy the game to be able to play the content. Then again i'll wait for a trial version heh, better safe than sorry. |

i knew it was coming as B2P (no sub). Trion has 3 games, one with each model. Rift (sub), Defiance (B2P / no sub), End of Nations (F2P, according to them). They want to be in all markets to have something for everyone, which is fine. I like the B2P model with Defiance, i doubt it would survive with a subscription when Firefall is Free to Play. Same game mechanics, different skin (i loved both betas so dont get me wrong). Only the tv series interacting with the game will set it apart. Cant wait for release day. Not sure which version to preorder D: probably will get PC and PS3 unless i can sync my account cross platform. |

Originally posted by mmoski Season pass is going to be like , I assume, borderlands 2. New content will be released over time. Probably a year or one season of the show. A season pass will give you access for the entirety of the new content. Otherwise you buy it piece by peice or not at all No matter how cynical you become, its never enough to keep up - Lily Tomlin |

I suspect a Season Pass will in some way include the Defiance TV episodes (streaming?) in addition til in-game stuff.
