Defiance is a buy-to-play, multi-platform scifi MMO currently in development by Trion Worlds and, in a groundbreaking merger, the Syfy network, in a bid to bring the intense nature of the third-person shooter together with the "persistence, scale and customization" of an MMO. Defiance will unite the platforms across PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 2nd.
A new developer post on the Defiance site informs players that the Exchange system has been removed from the game. Taking it out of the game came as a result of unforeseen and irreparable technical issues. The team has implemented a number of fixes in an attempt to resolve the problems, but to no good result.
Trion Worlds has updated Defiance with The Exchange that will allow players to buy and sell to one another. Players will need an Exchange Sell Slot to be able to access the ability to buy and sell.
As part of the third anniversary celebration for Defiance, Armistice Day has kicked off and will run through April 25th. During the event, players will be able to take part in several Arkfalls including Midsummer Mutiny, Hulker Hell, New Frontier Harvest, Solstice Strike and Colony Courtship.
Later today, Defiance will be updated with the Dark Metamorphosis update, a free content expansion for all players and one that will see a new zone, a great story-based quest line, new missions, new enemies and more. We had the chance to chat a bit with Trion's Carble Cheung and John Hegner about Dark Metamorphosis and the future of Defiance.
Defiance players will be pleased to hear about the return of the annual Frontier Harvest. From now through November 30th, players can take part in special events and earn some new rewards including a special new pack.
TVLine.com has confirmed via Twitter that the Syfy original show, Defiance, has been cancelled after only three seasons. This is of particular note to MMO fans due to Trion Worlds' tie-in game. The future of the game is in question, of course, and we have reached out to Trion for a comment.
The latest Defiance developer Q&A has been posted on the game's official site. As per the norm, several player questions have been taken covering topics as wide-ranging as the Midsummer Mutiny event, console lock ups,PC render distance improvements and more.
Developers have taken to the Defiance website to answer a series of players' questions submitted over the last few weeks. Topics include bonuses and outfits among others.
The Defiance team has taken a bevy of player questions and posted them to the official site in a brand new Q&A. Topics include rewards for PTS participation, whether or not new permanent arkfalls will be added and even one about the possibility of Defiance cropping up on Xbox One thanks to Microsoft's announcement of backwards compatibility.
Fans of both the MMO and the television show, Defiance, will be happy to hear that Season 3 begins tonight at 9:00 pm Eastern / 6:00 pm Pacific.
