    • I'm another one of those "played it since beta" guys, bought the Collectors Edition, but hear me out. This game during it's first couple months was something I thought I wouldn't get into, coming from playing Ultima Online for many years. But after upgrading systems and getting to see it full-tilt and enjoy it, this game was great. It had all the makings of a proper MMO and Star Wars enthusiasts dream. Great skills system, awesome crafting, places to explore and great combat. The Jedi progression system was completely fine. The only downside to 2003/2004 SWG was questing. It had good mainstream quests, but you always hated those damn whicker baskets, dud fireworks and fancy pens. But SOE/LE decided to take the side of more complainers than the die-hard fans. First it was a watered down Jedi system, then it was the CU, then the NGE. It was a game that was perfectly fine the way it was, even the CU didn't bother me. I've revisited SWG a couple months ago, and if I was a first-time player, I might be interested in it. Catchy little storyline, and easy skills system. But it's never going to be the same for me. My ratings as of current game state: Graphics 9, Sound 9, RP 7, Value 5, Fun 5, Community 7, Performance/Lag 8, Customer Service 6. I'd hope that some day SOE/LE will sit down and try again with SWG 2, possibly following the story from Episode I, and bring back the good 'ol days of Summer 2004.

    • Not a bad game, I quit because there weren't that many players. Other than that it has good quests, no death penalty, great community on a populated server, I love SCI-FI games, but don't get into this game because it's an empty wasteland, it's HUGE, you won't feel trapped in

    • The pros: it's Star Wars, good graphics, pieces of John Williams score, space combat in a MMOG, speed bikes, being incapacitated before dying, not having to buy the game - just start paying monthly fees; hunting players as a Bounty Hunter, having your own house, decorating your house, the community - which made me stick to it, without them, one'd take months to figure things out as there's no manual and the game has lots of features. And the role-play servers are very fun. Now, the cons: bad interface (eg F1-F12 unused), repetitive "dungeons", endless grind, customer service sucks big time, the game is buggy. And with the mass exodus from players after CU and NGE, resources on the internet are outdated. It's not that the game is empty - if you play in populated servers it's nice; it's the feeling of abandonment surrounding the game. Anyway, if you're a fan of SW, I think it's worth giving it a go - The planets are awesome, the space battles may bring those good X-Wing and Tie Fighter memories back... Just be nice to the helpers: you'll be talking a lot to them in your first 15 or so levels. If you're not a fan, go to WoW or EVE.

    • Once a player from day one of its realease to see it become like it is now, its realy sad how they killed this once good game.

    • The only reason this game is still online is because SOE and LA are too stubborn to admit they took a perfectly wonderful STARTING (precu) position and flushed it down the toilet, found it in the sewer, brought it back up, flushed it again, then ate it, shat it out, flushed again, dug it out one more time and then pissed all over it. That is the current state of SWG. You would be better off staring at an anthill than buying, trying, downloading, installing, updating, logging in, or zoning into this pile of steaming excrement.

    • For a former hardcore WoW player, this game just seemed like WoW lite. You almost can't die, and if you do, there is no real penalty. Quests are extremely repetitious, and seem pointless and ENDLESS. The quest chains go on and on without really progressing any storyline. Every time you complete a quest, they send you back out on an almost identical one. This is my biggest beef. The servers population is terrible, and I dont think I've seen more than 2-3 other players in the last couple hours of playing. This game really is geared towards casual players, or younger players. I wont be playing past the 14 day trial, unless a pre CU/NGE server is ever finished.

    • I was another very ticked off player with the CU and NGE. I took a loooong break from the game. I've recently returned however, and I must admit, I'm quite impressed with the current state of the game. I've been playing since the start of Feb. 2008 and haven't encountered any major bugs. The new instances are actually fun and the server population (Eclipse) is increasing. I'm in an active guild and have no trouble finding groups both in and out of the guild during the day and evening. The community is friendly and helpful and a healthy pvp exists on the server. I especially like the new collections and badges as it breaks up the same old, same old, revitalizes the economy, always gives you something to do and just makes things more interesting. The new multiplayer space ships are also awesome, but the best part is recapturing an Imperial Star Destroyer and its mutinous crew. Its just like the movies, a good challenge and lots of fun. I used to hate swg as much as any disgruntled vet, and I still hate soe, but I'm having a good time with a game that is pretty similiar to the "good ol days" (pre-CU). Ah yes, the jedi population has lessened as players actually enjoy the other balanced classes now.
