Star Wars Galaxies News - House Pack Up Returns

Posted by Keith Cross on Jan 15, 2009  | 5 comments in our forums

Imperial forces have announced that they will be authorizing demolition crews to sweep through the galaxy and clear the scourge of abandoned buildings. The House Pack Up is set to begin on March 3rd.

The Structures Demolition Crew is back and ready to blow up structures at your command! By decree of the Emperor himself, any abandoned structures (abandoned since July 1, 2008 or longer) in the galaxy can be demolished by the citizens of the galaxy beginning March 3, 2009. Call in the crew to demolish houses, player association halls, theaters, hospitals, cloning facilities, merchant tents and factories that are marked as Abandoned. These structures are automatically stored and packed up into the owner's datapad, ready to be placed when the owner returns.

Those looking for a way to acquire rare and valuable items for their personal collection should support the demolition effort. New rewards for the demolition event include furniture straight from the Emperor's personal collection! Other rewards include an Imperial painting, a Rebel painting, holo-pet droids, Xeno furniture, and other luxury items all available from the Lucky Despot. For every house or structure you destroy, you will earn one point that can be used to purchase these unique items.

Too bad there's nobody left in this game to demolish the abandoned buildings.

As someone who started playing pretty much at launch, I really want to love SWG.  Yes, the NGE transition was handled horribly.  Yes, it initially sucked.  Yes, in many ways it still sucks.  Yes, they've made quite a few improvements.

It's just not the SWG that I started playing. I miss the 32 professions. I miss being able to switch them up, and combine them to how *I* wanted to play them.

I'm not saying "bring back pre-CU" because that horse is beaten and bloody pulp, but over time the folks behind the scenes have eroded SWG into something that just "looks" like Star Wars.  So many things could have been done differently, and it puzzles me why they weren't even considered.

I've tried a few of the free trial offers, and I barely make it halfway through them before I log off in disappointment at the MMORPG that could have been.

Alas, all I can do is step back, and solemly whisper, "rest is peace, SWG... rest in peace."

Server transfers have really pupmed up servers and theres A LOT of us left and growing. Not saying this to try and be a all is alright in SWG post. But its true Bestine was BUMPIN on shadowfire during the transfers.

Ah, sorry, but it was not the whining  veterans that demolished this game, it was just SOE with help from Lucas Arts.

What this is really going to do, is really show you how empty the servers are.  Most servers are going to be so devoid of housing, it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack to even find a real house.
