I am playing around with the SWG Demo and trying all the classes. I made an Ithorian Entertainer (she's damn sexy!). I put her in the Cantina, set her to playing music, then pulled out a magazine. After I finished reading the article I thought I would post here. My entertainer is the only entertainer I have seen in the game so far. I have looked at the entertainer skills (+1 Hair Styling! LOL) and don't see anything really useful outside the cantina. I can't see anyone saying, "Group seeks 2 more, entertainer preferred!" (Ding, she hit next level without me even paying attention to her.) Is there anybody out there excited to see the entertainer class? Anybody that can't wait to get to the high levels so the can learn Breakdance? Anybody who did not look at the class and think, "They actually spent time coding this!?!", or in my case, "They gave us THIS but not a Pilot class!?!" The only thing I can think of, is they thought the current entertainers needed to respec to something. Tell me if I am wrong, but weren't the entertainers before the NGE usually skilled in something besides entertaining as well? Sure you can play a mean slitherhorn, but in groups your a fine medic or something. (85% to next level now) |

I played SWG at beta / release. after release my first character was an entertainer. It was a lot of fun, because everyone wasn't a macro whore back then. It was mainly a job of collecting tips and chatting with the fellow musicians, and putting the tip money together to buy the new skill needed, and passing it around. It was unconventional play and quite refreshing. I have no idea how it is now, but I remember being disgusted when cantina's were just filled with crappy macro spam screaming TIP ME etc. I really hate macro's. |

Entertainers used to be fun for the socialization and role playing aspects. Yes, they were allowed to have other skills since the skill system USED to be really versatile. (Best in any MMO that I had ever seen... but now that's all gone.) There is no pilot class because anyone can be a pilot. Just go to a pilot trainer and start running missions. Entertainers are pretty much a waste of time now... no one around to socialize with anymore. After the NGE Mos Eisley cantina was deserted and that was arguably the most populated social center on the server I was on. Cancelled my account since... don't know what it's like now. |

With a lot less people to socialize with and no real need to "visit" an entertainer for buffs, the class has taken a hit. However, I still see some dedicated groups of entertainers raising peoples mood and spirit at in game events and parties. And - uh - yes, you can farm the Corvette for AV-21 parts now if you want. Have fun Erillion |

It's almost as though there was a conspiracy on the part of the devs to kill entertaining. They started sidelining it well before the NGE, with the CU's removal of mind wounds (fixing those was an entertainer's primary purpose when the game started), mind buffing (formerly an entertainer's main way of making money) and then still later reducing and eventually eliminating combat fatigue (entertainers' one remaining link to the game outside the cantina). There's just no non-RP reason to visit entertainers anymore. And we all know how much RPing goes on in SWG nowadays They did give a passive experience buff (10%--woop de doo) which anyone could get almost instantly simply by watching an entertainer (so we couldn't charge for it--I think they did make this an active buff with the NGE). And of course, we got a lot of crafter buffs shortly before the NGE. But since the NGE is well on its way to killing crafting, those don't matter, either. So the only thing you can do as an entertainer now is dance and look pretty. The shortsightedness of the devs in killing off this very innovative part of the game is simply staggering. But so is just about everything they've done since the game was released. --Chastity Nightdancer |

I wish I had a toilet, a computer, and a fridge all in the same room... |
Yea, I was a master Musician from launch to about a year and a half ago. Honestly, it was fun as hell back then. Theed Cantina was a flipping party 24/7. We would talk, share stories, flirt with random people, play games, it was great! Best time I have ever had socially in any game... ever. But, thats all changed now. The social aspect has been completely ripped out of the game. Well, almost every "desirable" aspect has been ripped from the game. makes me want to cry **cries** I miss the good ol' days! |

Back then cantinas were the best place to learn lots about the game; there was so much to learn and explore... It was so great. I miss it a ton. *cries* |

I hate to say it but Entertainers were pretty much killed when the grind came along. |

There is no Commando class since everyone can carry a gun? There is no Merchant class since everyone can sell? Han was a Smuggler that could fly, Wedge was a Pilot. I am still waiting for the Pilot class. |

I will always miss pre-CU but I still enjoy the game. |
Back before the CU hit I wanted to become an entertainer but giving up my combat profession was not happening for me. When we were given an extra character I decided to use it for an entertainer but dang, we don't get xp for people watching us now, just dance, play music or ID. Woohoo! Oh, the one quest we have is a joke! Go talk to someone in the cantina on Mustafar when you're a master musician and you get 2 songs. Quest complete. I will keep my alt as an entertainer, at least for now. I will be opening a cantina as soon as I get to that level and it will be the center of RP for my PA. The grind for it just sucks all the way! |
