I've played SWG from June to December 2004. I have to say that, as reagrding to MMORGS, (I've played SWG, Knight, Neverwinter Nights and lately WoW), it's the best game system I've encountered when it comes to your char. I've learned about the combat revamp, at all changes so far, but what's making me consider to play once more (majorly I have 2 high lvl char in WoW and I'm bored to the extreme) is the concept behind SWG. The professions, the crafting, the economy, the quality of the resources and the cycling around them, the decay on the items, the towns, your own home full of souveniers from your adventures, the commerce between the gatherers and the crafters, the skill point system that made it possible to swicth and combine professions in your best interest, all this made SWG an amasingly addictive and fun game to play . What came in the way of this was the Jedi grind. I still played back in the holocron system, seen the village system take place, and found myself doing the  math to see in how many months I could become Jedi Padawan. It became a coming and going to the villaga to swap XP, it became really old really fast. With all the double Xp periods the game got since the combat revamp, no wonder everyone went for jedi grind. What I really would like to see in SWG, and I think it would help to flock ppl back into the game, is some in-depth changes. SWG is loosing at the start to other MMORPG's (like WoW) cause it has a very specific folclore sorounding the game (not like general fantasy MMORPG's), ppl that like star wars, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Chewbaca, Jaba the Hutt, Luke, Han even Salacious crumb or Sarlacc. To be in POI like Old Krayt or the Emperor's Palace, take a screenshot and make it your wallpaper, that's the in depth i was talking about. Make feel u belong somewhere (and Militar Ranks and Galactic conflict don't do it), u are needed, say for example be to aid in a battle fitting your patent, be a part of syth plot, make the unviverse a dinamic fliud everchanging enviroment (and I know that due to the cronology of the game there's not much space for "manouvers"). Finnaly SWG has a great backbone (Save Jedi) and with a little twist perhaps I can see coronet has it was once, and be able to complain about lagg, but be happy to do it :)

Fixed for legibility...

Hmm so what exactly is your suggestion? I've hung out with Leia and Luke and even met Vader in game. I've done missions for Han Solo and Lando Calrissian as well as having met Talon Karrde, Wedge and numerous other storyline figures. I'm not sure what you're asking for. I can go to Jabba's Palace and stand beside Bib Fortuna near Jabba if I want to as well...... The things you mention are already in the game.

What's your suggestion to make it better?

Thx for the reply to my thread. My sugestion was mainly about removing trhe jedi path all togheter, or at least give it a turn from the grind path (dunno perhaps make it random on char creation and associate a specific trigger due to a sequence of actions to it). Other sugestion was to make it possible to shift power balance, a nice start would be at a planet lvl (and I know that already exists at some lvl, but the idea is to take a little further). With this I mean make it possible to be called to specific conflits or missions. A little like the Shadowrun RPG. For instance a Rebel NPC could offer a group of players a specific mission that feels unique and usefull, wich players can associate some real change to the world (perhaps blow an Imperial  building or something). I forgot how many times I ran Geo Lab, the Sisters stronghold, the DWB and Corvette, and so on in search of ubber equipment like tapes and stuff. My point and suggestion it that there is more to a game then grind to be a Jedi or making the same old loot runs (starting to sound much like WoW), depth and everchanging challenging DEV actions is what keeps ppl paying montly to play (for the long run). I've read some of the forums and they contain lot's of good ideas, here is mine. Hope I have been more clear now :).

Once again thx for the post

Ahh I see you want more GCW enhancements :) We all do. What's there is good so far and I actually hope they do some work to take the GCW to space before they make anymore ground combat mods. Right now there's no real reason to PVP in space at all. On the ground you have the motivation of destroying enemy bases and taking control of planets. In space the only purpose to PVP is to fight other players. No real over-all goal yet.

Cisco Kid was a friend of mine

THis is just a suggestion but when you are doing your FS "grind" don't grind it, all you have to do is go on hunting missions casually and when you max go convert the xp you don't have to rush it, a true star wars fan, I am not saying you are or aren't I don't think I am I just love the movies, knows it takes a long time to get Jedi a good 18 years I am guessing.  SO don't rush it, crack open a beer, if you are into it smoke some weed.  Have fun a relax, it seems like you were relaxing before but you don't have to make the jedi "grind" a grind and I heard that Kashyyk is a place where paddys can train without the threat of Bounty Hunters and there is plenty to do on that planet.

Thanks

"Honor before Glory... Duty before Honor"

Personally I am hoping they open a jedi-free server now that DAOC has proven that 'classic' servers work. :) I will move my character there in a heartbeat.

But as to the 'jedi grind' it's only a grind if you allow it to be. People are in such a huge hurry to get to the "end" of games and I just don't understand it. Just have fun and enjoy the game. There's no need to rush through and grind grind grind. Go, have fun, explore. Jedi will happen pretty much on it's own as you play if you just let it.

The game isn't a race (Well ok it does have swoop races) and it's not a competititon. It's a journey. Enjoy it.
