Time for some thrilling heroics.

This has been explored in the past as far as I know.  But I'm bringing it back to public eye.

Smugglers.......How many of you think smugglers should be allowed to duel wield blasters?  Personally I think it would be a good equallizer for when they're dealing with stronger opponents and it's hardly fighting fair which is what smugglers are good at.

Forum Poll

Should Smugglers be allowed to use Duel Blaster?

Yes, naturally!
No! Why should they get an advantage? I like being a BH/Jedi and I dont like competition!
What the hell is this prick going on about?

How about dual weapons, like certain classes can dual wield different weapons, Jedi dual wielding lightsabers, and certain classes that are ambidextrious gaining the ability to dual wield other weapons, such as blasters, personally I would give this to classes such as smuggler, commando, bounty hunter, and squad leader.

I remember this idea a long time ago, maybe if we're lucky one day the devs might go through with it.

I wouldn't mind alot of different profs being able to duel-wield, but I am totally against jedi gaining any more power than they already have.  Though it would be nice to see some duel-pistol wielding BHs, pistoleers and the such.

Jedi don't have permadeath anymore and I think they should be punished.

Not a bad idea but you'd have to modify damage output on dual wieldable items so that it didn't imbalance the game.

The only way I would like to see this implemented is if it had proper penalties. I don't want to see every pistoleer running around with 2 blasters all the sudden because he has a greater damage output. I want to see them doing it because they chose to do it regardless of the fact that it limits you in some way or another.

I have seen too many games implement a dual wield system and lack the true penalties that are respective to trying to use 2 weapons at one time. Especially something like a blaster that requires some level of aiming, or atleast pointing in the right direction.

I want to see more people still using a single blaster then 2 even though it was implemented. I hope this makes sense.

Good gaming!

Yeah, anyone thats ever tried using two pistols at once knows it isn't easy because your mind will focus on using one more then the other. They could probably do a speed penalty to firing because you have to concentrate more and maybe have specials use more of your action points then wielding one blaster.

You could have a special for "cover fire" and do that very effectively but be very poor at hitting a target or something...

Simple really:
If someone dual wields cut their accuracy by 75%
Through skill training allow them to reduce that loss in accuracy by 30% down to a 45% loss of accuracy.

This should give a pretty accurate result for firing 2 pistols once you're proficient at it. A *slight* increase in damage

Oh I'd also give a range penalty as well since you aren't going to be able to aim as well with both.

Moral victories don't count.

it has been stated before on the official forums that pistoleers and swordsan (the 1 handed profession) would eventually get the opportunity to weild 2 weapons.

however, to date, it has not come to fruition and i believe the implimentation is still a ways off.

Yeah, an accuracy penalty sounds sensible enough.  I've seen a game that had a duel weapon skill that was the primary factor in determining overal accuracy and damage leaving the specific weapon skill (e.g. pistols, sword, whatever...) to be a secondary modifier that only gains full effectiveness for it's rating after the duel weapon skill has reached the same rating.

So somone wielding two pistols that has pistol accuracy rated at 10 would only be as effective as their duel pistols skill.  Say their duel pistols skill is rated at 2, then their duel pistol effectivity would only be on par with a single pistol rating of 2-3.  That's just based on what was done for duel weapons in Wizardry 8 though.  Not the best example, as Sirtech, the developer of W8, doesn't exist anymore, but I like how that system worked out cause it took quite awhile to be effective with duel weapons.

Actually Sirtech was one of the best game makers out there. I was sorry to see them close up shop. The Wizardry series was a very well done series of adventures.

And, yes, that dual wield system was very well done. And would also work with SWG though they'd have to add another entire tree to various professions to add dual wield... not sure how that would work... that or add a profession "Flourentine Fighting" or something to allow 2 weapon wielding.

SOE would do it the cheap way and add it to the existing skill boxes in various profs.
