Lulz.

Others will come, which will make you good

Level 50 is the end of the Bioware/EA's World of StarWars. No point in play any more.

5 years of dev. 500m $ of investiment, 1 m of  betatesting childs, should be enough to make a decent thing. But no, they did another WoW clone but with voice.

l just want to be like all those qqs who played galaxies for 1-2 years and they  left with the NGE and still says they are the vets of the game... I'm here to laugh at the face of all of those who came to the SWG forums talking about how  happy they were about the closure of the game thanks to the swtor.

Here is your SWOW enjoy the failboat at 10fps at Ilum.

yea they did .. and a real shame   ................imo

SWG was a much better representation of thw Star Wars universe even in its NGE/CU , than ToR will ever be (again imo)...

And i think much better in every way , well accept VO , but that really hardly counts for anything as many players are wearing out there space bars ..

Lucas Arts, EA and Bioware really dropped the Hutt-Ball on this one ...

Although the OP sounds like an incoherant (sp?) troll. I agree that EVEN the NGE-SWG was more than THREE TIMES the quality of SWTOR.

RIP SWG.

Anyone feels its quite iconic that the majority of people doesnt want to play Han "Do Good" Solo and Luke "Bore" Skywalker?

Its as if millions of moisture farmers dont care...

TOR beats SWG(CU/NGE) hands down. I Loved the original SWG but looking back at it now watching videos on youtube it seems so ancient compared to TOR.

No, they closed SWG down because it didn't have enough players.

Anyone besides SOE would have closed it years ago.

Sure it was a great but buggy game when it came out but it have been bleeding players badly for years now. So TOR ain't the one to blame for SWG closing down, it was just the last nail in the coffin. NGE started it a long time ago.

You don't remember the painfully slow combat system. It was not good. I loved pre-CU, but the combat system was not hard, it was just weird.

SWG had a near pefect skill system but its combat was complex but in a weird easily exploitable way.... Crafting, economy, diversity... was done better than anywhere else.

I stick to my argument for the Star Wars IP to be successfully represented in an mmo, the developers should approach it from a hybrid sandbox/themepark design.  Not one, not the other, but a successful marriage of the two.

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward. Sorry TSW.

When it comes to an MMO of a famous IP, people demand a 'world' more than a 'game'.

People wouldn't mind a Star Wars MMO like The Force Unleashed, but if it's a world design that only tunnels a player down a path, like the game itself, then people will cry foul. If a Harry Potter game came out, people would be pissed if Hogwarts was broken off into hubs like your average online action game, the setting deserves a roamble academy and countryside at *your* discretion. Exploration, is the word I'm looking for... I guess. It's key to a famous setting, because going out of your way and noticing a simple easter egg that means a lot to the lore-informed is important.

This was my thoughts as well. Instead of a Pure "One or the Other" approach. Have the beginning of the game be a "Themepark" to guide you into how to get started, and then the other 90% or more of the game is a sandbox galaxy of planets with ACTUAL SPACE ENVIRONMENT!!

Being able to combine EvE + UO + DAOC would be a great direction I think. Player housing similar to SWG. A combat system similar to TERA or Blade & Soul. An economy base similar to DAOC or SWG. A Crafting system similar to SWG. A REAL strategic importance on owning space & land similar to UO & DAOC. Combined with a hybrid skill system combination of SWG, UO, and DAOC. Allow players to "specialize" in specific vehicles using "Certifications" similar to EVE's train-time skill system. This "Vehicle Cert" system would be for ground, air, and space vehicles (ie: a 3yr veteran who concentrated on capital ships could "command" a Battleship class space ship).

A leveling & grouping system similar to DAOC & SWG where higher "skilled" players can bring new players along with them (most likely RL friends).

Needless to say, I'm waiting to see how EQ:Next turns out. However, I'm not holding my breath.

Well to give $ony credit by the time the NGE rolled around the game had been out for 3 years. I figure give TOR 3 years and lets see where it's at.

If SWG was such a better SW then why is not around any more? Oh, yeah, that one patch that pissed off a bunch of kids saying how it ruined their SW games. But wait it was good, let me pull the "PRE CARD!" There, everything was much better then.

Many of you had the privilege of Beta Testing it before you bought SWTOR. Why does this all come to a suprise to some of you?

I liked it, why I played and didn't want the NGE or the CU.

PreCu, CU, NGE, EMU, whatever incarnation of Star Wars Galaxies there is, however broken and buggy it is, is hands down an over-all better MMORPG that Star Wars: The Old World Republic of Warcraft is and will probably ever be.

Biowares game just has no heart and soul to it. No life.

Its a good SPRPG or a MPORPG/COORPG, but not an MMORPG like SWG was.

Tried: EQ2 - AC - EU - HZ - TR - MxO - TTO - WURM - SL - VG:SoH - PotBS - PS - AoC - WAR - DDO - SWTOR
Played: UO - EQ1 - AO - DAoC - NC - CoH/CoV - SWG - WoW - EVE - AA - LotRO - DFO - STO - FE - MO - RIFT
Playing: Skyrim

If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s recreation. If you work at it, it’s FF-XIV.

anyone that says tor is better wasnt a master pilot with his on nova coriuor on swg or had the mining one with a team to go astroid hunting. The actual crafting part was fun. Btw my best ship was the general grevies starship.

I don't understand why we don't see more 2 games.... SWG 2, Anarchy Online 2. Dark Age of Camelot 2. These guys try to make the next big thing and they fail, fail, fail.

I agree with OP, They closed SWG for this piece of .... I would be playing SWG right now just to get this horrible game out of my head. I waited for this... This goes way beyond hate. I am emperor level dakr side anger toward these clowns. Wasted my money and my time and wasted my beloved Starwars IP....

Any news on that emulator project that has been in the works, buller any one buller.

SWG didnt die because it lacked subscriptions. Still had well over 200k+ people/accounts playing if i remembered correctly. Thats still a good income for SOE/LA. LA killed it so TOR wouldnt have competition, they wanted everyone to play TOR.

I played since day one, anyone on Intrepid should know my name. Even after the NGE it wasnt a bad game at all.

The lack of advertisement killed SWG. You hardly ever saw a SWG commercial or anything. If they would redo SWG, update graphics, adjust some things, and do a large campaign saying SWG coming back, i bet you they would probably get a good following again.

No game has ever beat SWG indepth game play, crafting, content, and just overall fun. TOR doesnt compete, it cant, its just eye candy. Yeah SWG looks old, but still not bad graphics, seen some worse stuff released past few years.

I just want SWG crafting and exploration back. I could spend hours even days just exploring a planet here and there. Player content was grade A content, better than most these mmo's paid content.

So yeah TOR disappointed me, and obviously a lot of others. Sure you will have the fanbois and the ones thatit hasnt hit yet. But TOR wont be an epic mmo, they claimed it to be.

SWG mixed with TOR = game of the century. To bad we can't get a game company to make a good game for a change.
