From the fan fair today, here is this: 11) LucasArts and SOE (i.e. management) are deeply committed to supporting our dev team. They would not comment on any other licensing, but George Lucas' son plays SWG and enjoys it a lot. Therefore George is interested in making sure the game suceeds (in theory)

Every day that $OE keeps SWG-NGE running, is another day of tarnish on their already terrible reputation. It is another "I told you so...." from the vets to $OE, over game changes no one wanted, and and the disrespect they showed us. $OE took our game, so we took our money and walked. Every day SWG keeps running, is another reminder to other devs of how to NOT run a game. Biggest IP in the world, and $OE has all but empty servers. Let is stay running..... |

So you're saying the son of the founder of the of the IP is making business decisions that directly effect the finances of not only LA but SOE too? Hmmm...this may be true; it explains a lot.

Plus it was confirmed today at SOE fan Fair by Blixtev that the Bioware/LEC/EA Kotor game will not be a MMO, what it will be is like what Diablo 2 is now (from an online point of view). You can do the content solo, or team up in groups to do the directed content. Consider that people at SOE are far more likely to know than say, you. Considering a lot of Bioware Austin IS ex-SOE.

And they got a whole fan club that wont quit talking about em. I believe the ole addage comes into play "any exposure is good exposure". Granted SOE was moreso getting their arses handed to em for a while. Sort of over exposed heh...but the damage was done long ago. Their sub numbers been down across the board from most folks accounts. Going forward it is just "Oh they are still going at it". Not saying there arent folks that think akin to "vets" found in this forum. There are also folks who see these vets as demented...or worse. And best of all...while vets are protesting a game that is pretty much "toast" anyways....they just put SOE's name on more folks tongue. If you guys think carrying on for 3 yrs makes folks not wanna try SOE...think again. Speaking for myself, but anytime I see someone carry on daily for 3 yrs over a video game, I think that person needs to grow the frack up. Or better yet...call Dr Phil. I know if I ran a MMO...and I had a few of the posters around here in my game...like a certain Jack Nicholson wanna-be...I would ban that persons account faster than he could put on his make-up for the next video feed. SOE should of put their foot down when folks were holding organized protests in game...crashing servers on purpose etc. Those were the same folks that couldnt be civil on the message brds. Sort of like these brds. Granted they had every right to be mad about what they spent their money on. I would want things that were claimed working, but actually broken, fixed as well. Agree to this point. That said...There is a process to lodge a complaint...not incite everyone around them to riot. We used to hear about the protests over on the EQ servers when they would be happening. We used to get a big laugh out of it. Disrupting fellow players cause you are mad at SOE....amazing reasoning. I dont know all the facts...but I bet if a good number of those folks were made examples of, the chit would of never happened again. Then perhaps there could of been communication on what needed/didnt need fixing. Maybe the "precious" would still be around. If not Pre-CU...then maybe CU would of worked out. Who knows? No one does thats who. Cause the atmosphere wasnt conducive to discussion then...and the foot stomping still goes on till this day. Only nowadays you give SOE free attention towards their products...and they dont have to deal with ya in their games. I would have to think smed appreciates it....especially if they hit paydirt with either DC or that spy game. |

No wonder the game went NGE, Georgie Porgie Pig Face's son is playing. They had to dumb it way down in order for him to do so. Really though, most of us vets don't give two shits anymore whether it keeps going or not, we're moving on to other games and hopefully a new SW mmo from BioWare. |

OP, I'm not going to say you are wrong. I'm glad you see this as a positive and a sign the game you play isn't going any where. I will even acknowledge the NGE today is fun and a game worth time to play for some. I myself like some of the GU5 when I played on the last free vet trial. But I for one will not pay to play this game unless and only if SOE and LA guarantee the games life. I want a "no sooner than shut down date" in writing within the EULA and on the games main web page. This guarantee must state any sub time paid in is refundable to players from the time the date is stated in writing to the actual no sooner than shut down date if they shut the game down. Other consumer products and services have guarantees and warranties. I am at the point with MMOs if I feel the producing companies are shady and have wronged me before, they will have to guarantee in writing to overcome my distrust. Nothing can be said ar debated that will change my mind about SOE and LA willingness to lie to customers. Now I want something to back up their words. Period. I know they will never do it. I know this something that no other MMO offers. This doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't be done. In fact what I want would benifit every current player. I would truely let them know the game is secure. It would show the people that feel worked over that these companies are serious with what they say and intend to follow through with what they. I am not seeing someone in George's family liking this game as a guarantee. Propaganda at best. |

So now we know who the target audience soe/LA were aiming for with the nge. His son must be like Rudy Guliani's kid if he enjoys swg a lot. Oh, and just because GL's kid likes swg, doesn't mean its a success. The nge swg is still a total and complete failure business wise. The stated goal of the nge was to draw in a lot of new players, at the risk of losing current ones. Hows that working out? Is there significantly more or less players in swg since the nge was put in place??? Yeah. The nge version of swg is, and always will be, the Christmas special of the mmo universe.
