That is very bad logic Obriak.  Go log onto any Blizzard forums, site, game and pick 100 people at random.  Ask them which was their favorite star wars movie.  I bet each person you ask gives you an answer to the last person.  All 100 of them.  All of which are gamers.  Gamer + Star Wars fan.
Now go to a Star wars forum, site, game and pick 100 random people.  Ask them which was their favorite Blizzard game.  I doubt you will get the same amount of answers.

I have no idea how knowledgeable Star Wars fans are about Blizzard games or if they even play them.
However I am certain I can pick just about anyone out of a video game, MMO or not, and strike up a conversation about Star Wars.

Perhaps the difference comes from the reputation of each companies games.  Agree?

Just because you liked a movie doesn't mean you want to play a game based on it.  For instance, I enjoyed the LOTR movies but I have no interest in playing the MMO based on it - or any other games based around it.

So now you are trying to justify that no one wants to play SWG because SW fans are not "gamers?" Oh my. How amusing. Twp pf the most popular games of all time are Battlefront and KotOR.
many Star wars fans are not gamers, but almost all gamers are star wars fans.
basically you are making a nonsense argument though, You know that, right?
Hmm maybe I should just ask you, what are you trying to say and what are you trying to justify here? just to be kind, I'll ask for clarification.

Were they now?  According to this, they're not.  My argument isn't really specific to SWG but the Star Wars franchise in general.  Just because Star Wars has a huge following, doesn't mean that a single Star Wars product will be or should be huge in its field.

According to that list, they sure were. KotOR was number 7 on the XBox list, and battlefront was over a million on playstation.
Why isn't SWG huge in this field? because it sucks.

My bad, missed it in the refresh...
Anyway, why are you looking at the Xbox listings when we're talking about PC games?  At least I assumed we're talking about PC games since this is essentially a PC games forum...
The link I provided was a direct link to the PC Games section of the page, and yes, SWG is in that list.  Actually, SWG is the only Star Wars game in the PC games list...

We are not talking about PC games, YOU are because it narrows your field and obfuscates things. We are talking gamers and the games they play. We are discussing the overlap between gamers and star wars fans -- where did you ever get the idea that we are talking PC games only? That's just silly to differentiate.

Not really. Subs is only one standard. By nearly ANY standard SWG is the worst MMO in existence, as I have outlined previously. As stated, it DOES have a couple of things going for it -- but it is still a mess of a game overall.

And this is your opinion and I respect it. SWG does have alot issues and it should have issues since how SOE has revamped it what 3 times since it released.I do not agree or condone what SOE did,but I can understand why they did it.In short after playing wow since it launched and not seeing much else to play other than EQ2 ans SWG that appealed to me its serving my interest at the present time.I have no dought that the game is getting better, but it is taking a very long time for them to get this NGE playable.I quit SWG when they dumped the NGE on us and went to wow. Only now did I find it even beginning to be playable and thats after what 2 years? All in all I am having a good time playing it again even tho it may only last me 2-4 months. With Warhammer releasing in September it will be a good place to stay until then:P

Understood, and I'm always glad when someone is having fun. I wish everyone's lives to be overflowing with joy and goodness.

That being said, this thread is about whether people should come back to the game or not, and I tend to think NOT. The game is still not really very good, and since you can't trust the DEVs not to erase past efforts on a whim, I can not recommend starting this game or coming back to it.

They just aren't particularly trustworthy or ethical PEOPLE, and that's a problem. Put your trust in them, and surely they will burn you.

Couldn't have said it any better, myself.

Umm.. I don't want to point out the glaring logic flaw in your words AGAIN, but you like Star Wars movies and you play a Star Wars based MMO.

That aside, almost every video gamer is a Star Wars fan to some degree.  Gamers play games and almost every gamer is a potential fan of a Star Wars game, because of previous exposure and some fondness.

I doubt almost every gamer is a fan of Blizzard or anywhere close to that same ratio for Star Wars fans (the non gamers).

Star Wars has more pull than any other IP.  Downplaying that is flat out ignoring the reality of the situation.

Actually, I got into SWG before I became a fan of Star Wars.  I hadn't even watched a Star Wars movie before I played SWG ;)

Another example of my point.  My work collegues have watched Star Wars and liked the movies, they even make Star Wars refrences (one of them can do a pretty good Wookiee impersonation...) but they don't play Star Wars games.

It doesn't make a point at all, just an anecdote. The fact is, GOOD Star Wars games do very well, and bad Star Wars games don't. THAT's the variable here. Quality.

Star Wars is no guarantee of success, but when the game is good, it does VERY well. SWG is a crappy game with a bad reputation, and thus, does poorly.

Combat Vehicles in SWG?  Huh?  Got to be kidding me, I heard that back during the first year...

So now they will come online...  Somehow I just do not believe this.

And Hoth...

Let me guess, it will be a repeating static battlefield, which will be exploited and shortly thereafter closed until it can be corrected.  But how long will that take, just as long as it did with the previous battlefields.

And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

No, it's an MMORPG forum, not a PC game forum. In fact it's a specific forum for a specific MMORPG. That has nothing to do with the scop of discussion here or in any thread here. We were discussing GAMES, GAMERS, and STAR WARS. There is no reason to hyper-differentiate between all PC and consoles in the context we are speaking.

Now you are just playing games -- games with words, because you know you haven't a case anymore.

I see Console and PC gamers as two different audiences.  A person can be a hardcore console gamer but their PC might have no gaming functionality at all, which is why you can't say "look at all those figures for a console game, why doesn't a PC game have those numbers" and come to the conclusion that it's simply because the PC game is "crap".  There's other factors involved.

Having said that, SWG has a higher total sales of 1.5mil compared to the KOTOR sales of 1.48mil...
