I am looking for a game to call home right now so I went to the forums here and saw all the lousy posts about SWG which made me almost not even bother going to the main site.

I am lucky I didn't listen though

My method of checking how active a game is without having a subscription is simple.

I check there forums and see how many people on at once.

I see how many are logged on, and if it doesn't show I look at the current amount of posts made in the last 1 day in General Discussion.

There are 1,704 online users: 690 registered, 1,014 guest(s)

This is the numbers from, yes you guessed it,  The main SWG forums.

The time I took it was exactly   4:47 EST time August 4th 2008

For a game that sucks so much it sure is active.

Sorry to ignore the trolls here but I will be downloading the Free Trial and trying the game for myself.

if the only reason you don't try games for your self is couse of what other people say well that is just weak...

I played a lot of games i would say that suck but i can say that cause i tryed them first !! ....

By all means, please DO try it. You can't really know how bad it is without really seeing for yourself.

download the trial and judge for yourself.  Choose your server wisely though.

Supposadly EQ2 has way more players than SWG, but the SWG forums is like Howard Stern- people want to see what's going to get posted next or read what's being said in some threads. Here's a few numbers as of 3 pm PST

SWG: 1,636 online users: 631 registered, 1,005 guest(s)
EQ: 400 online users: 115 registered, 285 guest(s)
EQ2: 769 online users: 184 registered, 585 guest(s)
VG: 356 online users: 125 registered, 231 guest(s)
MxO: 118 online users: 46 registered, 72 guest(s)
PS: 152 online users: 20 registered, 132 guest(s)

And good luck with your tryout on the game, and read the official forum threads yourself to answer your own questions in the OP, nevermind what we're saying here on MMORPG.com since a majority of us are refuges while official forums are actual subscribed players.

Here's some titles of threads on the first page of the gameplay discussion forum, remember these are posted by people that subscribe to and play the game currently......

"FREE ONE TIME TRANSFER!"   this guy wants free transfers because of the population decline

"A Cause for Concern"  A thread about vet's not resubscribing after the free 30 days, leaving the servers dead

" Server Merge..."  speaks for itself

"Very low population on half the servers."  title says it all

"Server Population is an Issue that needs to be addressed!" .........getting the idea yet?

If you don't believe the servers are dead why don't you go log on and see for yourself?  LMAO, this thread is great.

Anyways, nice rant OP, too bad you failed to use logic.  I believe SOE once said that they estimate about 10% of their subscribers post on the forums, and you claim that 1,7000 people were looking at the forums today, that would leave a reasonable human to estimate that 17,000 people might play SWG.

Nice checking the forum numbers there, sorry to tell you but over half of the total number are NGE haters that stay in the forums to scream at one another.

Give the trial a free shot if you wish though, if experiencing a handful online first hand doesn't give you a hint then there is no help for you.

Anyone with a station pass can post in those forums so don't give me only active SWG players can post.

First off, don't blindly believe words of random people on the internet - take it with a grain of salt.  Unless those people are saying 'THESE GUYS ARE STEALING MONEY' like we do with DnL...in that case, just never give them your CC number.

Second off, nice basis for MMO activity comparison but there is a major flaw.  SWG has a hugely active forums and always has because SWG has always had a great and active community regardless of total subscribers, and the forums are constantly active like these forums here with retarded dribble.  People actually sub to SWG JUST to post on the forums and talk trash.  I'm not even exagerating - two of my old guild members resubbed and never logged back into SWG, the just posted.

lol hang on, let me just get this right.... you're saying that the "haters" subscribe to spam the SWG forums with negative comments just to undermine the whole game?

That right there is on a par with the "my source says....." bullshit.... lol, some of you guys live on a different planet. SWG needs no "hater" plants on the forums, SOE have done all that was needed to do to kill it all on their own.

Well I just checked the profiles of all the people that posted the threads I named and all of them apart from one only have SWG forum access, the other one only has Vanguard forum access other than SWG,  so that kills your theory.

I don't like SOE though I am fond of products from Sony itself and can vouch for having resubbed just to post on the forums for the game it's a pile so I won't play it but I don't bash it either just talked to a few old friends.
