SWG really screwed up bigtime, because they have some of the most loyal fans if they would have put out a good product!  No other game on the web has so many mothballed players talking about potential and trials as this game!

I think they did you guys a severe dis-service with this game, but let's keep it in perspective.  They are never going to remake this game into something more than it already is.... which is trash.

The game is getting much better every update, so by you saying they are doing a sever dis-service is ridiculous.

It's a Star Wars mmo, let me say that again Star Wars  mmo with less than 120k subscribers. Every gamer that happens to be a Star Wars fan and Star Wars fans in general have all been done a huge disservice.

No it is not.  The purpose was to increase subs...that did not happen.  They ONLY market this game to former players and not new players.  Ever wonder why that is?

It's barely getting better -- and in some ways it's getting worse. The DEVs continue to make the same mistakes over and over and over again.

I don't know. I am quite pleased with everything I have seen so far in GU5. I love the fact that crafted weapons will again be superior to looted items, I love the fact that old weapon skins will finally be viable.

That sort of improvement is very good. What they need to do, though, is to lay off all the combat revamps... that is what leads to strong burnout among those who have stuck it out.

I may be the only one--- but  I love the fact they made an EXAR quest... the geek in my loved seeing the old statues to him out on Yavin. The meatlumps--- meh. The concept of the Tusken attack is pretty cool.

So I would say they are okay for content. Getting much better at crafter issues. Totally clueless with how to rectify PVP/PVE conflict--- and totally absent on GCW issues.

So I would say GU5 is probably the best this particular group has done. If the appearance tab gets in I will be stoked.

It's not gettng better at all.  If anything, the servers are getting more and more desolate.  The only reason some servers are seeing an increase in population is because everyone is rolling new toons because their servers are dead.

This game MIGHT have 10,000 subscriptions, that is just pathetic for a Star Wars MMO.

the nge has under 5k players from what i have been told

the nge if it doesn't pick up will be shut down by the end of the year

the game is not getting better if it was going to get better $OE would have rolled all the servers back to the pre-cu.

untill they do $OE will lose and us vets will win as more and more mmos will have to go sandbox after what we have done to kill nge

The business likes to clone what succeeds. Innovation = possible big profit or possible failure. Most companies appear unwilling to take the chance. Why make something great and new when the same old will net you a certain stable amount appears to be the business mantra... oh yeah that and "lets add topless players"

SWG might shutdown but that has been a repeated cry for a long time that has not happened.

I think it will take another SW MMO to actually kill SWG - especially while it is under the shield of station pass.

I am talking about erasing everyone's past effort when they revamped the GCW, forcing traders and entertainers into combat right after they were promised that would not happen; massively increasing the difficulty in Chapter 6; effectively removing what was then solo content from many players, and replacing it with nothing; nerfing medic because of undiscovered problems with the heroic instances; nerfing and removing diversity from Jedi with the NJE; still leaving many critical bugs unfixed, like NPCs shooting through walls and floors; broken instances on Mustafar and Kashyyyk; the recent Anniversary fiasco; and many more I'm not mentioning.

I'll be the first to praise the good things they have done; and they have. My point is they still are making the same kinds of mistakes right alongside of the good things. That is why the game is not growing, dispite their best efforts. That is why word-of-mouth doesn't get better. Each bad thing creates a new wave of angry vets. that cancels out any moves forward each time.

game update 5 is good though. Too bad it won't help, since they will surely do something bad right after it.
