I find myself logging in and staring at the screen.

I gave SWG the ol college try. I just cannot enjoy the NGE. It reminds me of playing those big blocked kingerdarten puzzles when it used to be a 50,000 piece 3d puzzle set.

How someone can play SWG for 5 years straight is simply beyond me. I would even consider myself a very patient man.

The NGE is really bad, for the standards of any video game.  To defend it is ridiculous.  Too many structural problems to be considered a decent game.  WoW runs so much better in almost every way, there is no logical reason to play the NGE over WoW other than if you are simply a diehard Star Wars fan.

LucasArts doesn't care about this game anymore.

Tecmo Bowl.

Thank the real SWG vets for keeping other games from getting the NGE treatment.

Yeah the people that started after the NGE is one thing but I don't get how people who played when the game was amazing can continue to play regularly now. Every time I have a vet trial I just get depressed over what has become of what used to be the best mmorpg every made.

I've been playing since november 2003 with just a few breaks every now and then. Just came back now from a 1 and a half year in the navy. The game has changed alot, but I'm still able to enjoy it. My guilds and the people I know IG is mostly what keeps me going

They have improved a ton since the launch of NGE.  Many vet's like my self are returning and finding that the game has improved and are now playing once again.  It's just a matter of opinon if you like it or not.

I don't think you'll find anyone dispute the fact that the game has improved since Nov. '05.

But I do think the gaming experience is significantly different - perhaps as much so as to consider it a completely different game. The problem then becomes where can I get the game experience again that was removed from the market, and why would I play a game that isn't offering enough of a difference then virtually every other MMO available - and in many cases much more polished?

I guess the answer usually comes down to 'because it's Star Wars', and for a developer to rely simply on the IP will shoot themselves in the foot. The true question people need to ask themselves these days is how strong is their connection to the IP? Or, how strong is the game without the IP?

Answering that should give people a very clear indication of the quality of this gaming experience.

Actually, my daddy loved football his whole life. WoW and Eve continue to grow. That's life. People never get bored of something good. That's life.

Everything that made the game bad on November 15, 2005 is still present.  The only difference is that they have added a bunch of stuff on top of it.  Would you consider D&D style familiars as a vet reward an improvement?  Considering the game has the worst combat system of any MMO, does making it take longer to kill MOBs seem like an improvement?  Particle effects are much more present during combat, even with the particle slider, than they were at the start of the NGE, and they don't improve the game, they just make it more obnoxious.

That's just a few things that are worse than when the NGE first went live.  There are many, many more I can list.

lol I agree with you Obee.

I was just trying to be consciencious to those currently playing. Somehow these things make it an improvemnet for some, but definetly not me.

Better or worce are matters of personal opinion.  I know a few who think it's the best thing since sliced toast, others who left for good, and yet others who are looking for ANYTHING to replace it.

The only thing that they have done is CHANGE the game just about every chance they get.  NGE with many mini NGEs behind it.  Anyone can only take so much.  Sooner or later a NGE or mini-NGE will get everyone.
