I liked your review here in mmorpg.com, it was fair and objective, done with the head and not with the heart (damn, this was hard to acomplish in november 2005, at that time I had my eyes injected with blood XD). Perhaps playing more than a few hours, or reading a bit into the friday features and chapters note will you discover that in this last year devs have put into the game more quantity and quality than in the previous 4 years. I literally went from bashing to subscriving in a matter of weeks.
Well I can definitely vouch for your bashing of the game in the past , I'm glad you were able to be objective rather than Biased as most were in the past few years. /cheers Might have to try giving an honest go myself while on this trial., AOC needs work and won't be truly playable until then . SO I'm thinking about holding off and playing something else. And I hate High fantasy it's up to SWG or EVE I guess.Eve is just so dang time consuming to start out in . |

Originally posted by Enigma Why I play it? It's because it's Star Wars. If it wasn't I'd have quit about the 3rd day of the trial. Having met Darth Vader during the anniversary celebration was awesome, having my little silly R5 droid following me around is great, hanging out in Jaba's Palace just for the sake of it is awesome, protecting your outpost in Corellia from the Rebel scum is awesome, watching Jedi battles (as improbable as it would be in the time the game is settled) is awesome, adventuring in dangerous Dathomir is awesome and so on. Wanting to be a Bounty Hunter helped too, as SWG is the only game I know where you can hunt players down. The space battles added something to it, as I was a fan of the X-Win/Tie Fighter series (though the controls are not that good). And the upcoming Collectible Card Game will surely add to the fun (I like CCGs a lot) - specially because the other online CCG from SOE, Legends of Norrath, is fun and great good looking. One thing: there's no game to buy these days: you just buy a month ("subscribe") and start having all access to the game (depending on the subscription offers, you might get all expansions). It's great to know someone that TRIES MMOGs, not just plays for 5 minutes and spends the rest of his life ranting bout how stupid game 'X' is, without having even read a newbie guide or game manual. If you like sci-fi, perhaps you'd like to try EVE or Anarchy Online - AO is really interesting, and although the graphics are outdated, the ladscapes are awesome. |
