Also, not only am I a SWG vet (and a vet of UO, EQ, DAoC, etc.), I've also been a member of these forums for over 2 years). I'm pretty sure he ment the group that left the game and mourn for it's lost and continued saga of getting classic servers. The fact is even classic servers can't save this game, the game is set with a small sub base and you guys who still play it is what keeps SOE's hand feed with a little food money.

It's all good though your fun is my boredom, everyone is different. Just continue to love the game you love to play and don't look back. You know what company you are dealing with, you seen what they are capable of doing, you seen the lack of customer appreciation. So when they announce a expansion and then close the game 2 weeks later, we'll be back to square one.

That being said pics are not going to prove anything stroke the e-peen all day but you and I know this is the internet, it can be searched, downloaded and copyright infringe on a daily bases. Getting a pic of SWG pre-CU is like going to get the mail you know something is going to be in there.

Because I participated in the last vet trial, which was in May.

See, I myself wouldn't mind coming back as a subscriber, if 1) it was only $10 a month now & 2) it wasn't already dead. I get on there during 'vet days' and it's empty and boring. It's hard to even get into a PuG let alone find a working city and guild. Don't get me wrong, I'm another loyalist to pre-cu and just as bitter as the others, but I'm also an avid Star Wars fan.

You said SOE brought some good to SWG recently; what good did they bring? I am not being sarcastic, I just really want to know. I don't do research on the game anymore, not since the last time I tried it earlier this year for a month.

I have a CL 90 Jedi, and a CL 80 pre-NGE toon I haven't touched yet. I don't want to play those again; I'd rather create a new character. One huge thing in my way is the boring leveling system. Long ago, we used to group up and kill things for xp, now we are soloing these insanely boring Legacy Quests. I've already done the legacy quests several times and will not do it again. So unless SOE has somehow changed the game to where leveling with others is better or they created an alternative way to leveling than Legacy quests, I won't return...not even for free.

Also, I won't return if they haven't fixed the Jedi issues players have been complaining about for years, such as a FRS system among several other things. Another thing bugging me is the economy. Try leveling pilot along with your ground levels. It isn't going to happen, because the ships and the parts are priced for those whove been playing for years and have millions of credits. The ability to wear whatever clothes you want as a Jedi through clothing attachments doesn't change anything when the cost for them is only affordable to those with millions. Also, I'm finally happy they added 5th gen sabers, so we can finally use whatever type of saber we want, but they still have special lightsaber crystals which make it unfriendly to players who'd rather use a different colored crystal. They introduced new cloaks, but failed to realize that everyone will have them, so everyone will still look the same still.

These are my gripes with the game...gripes that didn't exist pre-NGE. I don't care anymore if they want a class/level based MMORPG. I just care if the game is fun and is doing the Star Wars name justice. I watch the movies and read the books, then play SWG and think that SWG is terrible. SWG doesn't seam like Star Wars at all, other than the skin.

Actually, informed opinion puts the game at around (75 thousand subscribers). That is not impressive (even sad) but it's enough to keep it going. Don't forget that the Station Pass can also float this game indeffinately.

Just continue to love the game you love to play and don't look back.

I am of the opinion that they will never make that mistake again (not listing to us). Look at Vanguard and how they are doing everything the players vote for. Also, Smed outright apologized for the NGE (which if you think about it is amazing coming from a major corporation head).

My name is the same. Are you joking? I have litterally hundreds of pre-cu pics. Not to mention plenty of people who have been in this board for over 5 years who know me here and knew me in game back in 2003.

Here is a pic of my wife and I on the Bloodfin server back during pre-CU. We were in the Imperial guild VEA, which a friend of mine told me on the phone a couple months ago is still going 5 years strong. Anyone remember GeorgeW.Bush, the leader of VEA?

i take a look at my account and i see that Vanguard and EQ2 are activated with free trials. But not SWG. I am definitely a vet of SWG. Have they activated everyone that can play now or do i have to reactivate it myself?

OK, I'm game. I just did a vet trial in May, but quit due to the ungodly amount of game crashes I had and the lack of players to group with. I see that I now have another vet trial available. A few questions first. My old character was a "smugglerish" charatcer with lots of wilderness survial skills, actually more like a ranger. I am now a smuggler on Starsider and yo be frank, it sucks. What class now most resembles the old ranger, spy? Also I enjoy Roleplaying, does this new group on Kettemoor roleplay? Finally, is this Novus/SoK you speak of a guild, player city, or what? I enjoyed SWG even during the CU, but the lack of players will not even really let me give it a fair shake.

It seems they have a timer to determine if you're eligible for another free trial, based upon how long ago you had a free trial.  I suspect that if you were logged in on "pending" status less than 90 days ago the current free trial is not intended for you.

However, come say September or so, if you were in on the previous free vet trial, you'll be eligible for another 30 or so days of free SWG.  Because they need to pad those 'active accounts" numbers somehow.

I resemble that remark and in all honestly hosal has more maturity then half the adults on this board.

Like others many people have tried so many mmorpg's and come running back to swg (yes running..). Like others I await an mmorpg that can top SWG but as of yet nothing has compared to it so I enjoy the game warts and all and quite honestly even with all the changes I find no other game that can hold a candle to it for the type of open gameplay and fun in it.

When someone makes a game as good as that one people will notice it and follow until then this game is doing very well. If people take time to really think about this and look at the changes and revamps and really think about this. There is a large number of players who can easily for lack of a better way to put it admit (me included) that this game is still one of the best on the market if not the best. So IN SPITE of past bumps and turns in the road the game is doing well and is drawing customers back (again myself included). There has to be a reason why people who haven't played for years and may have logged in to try a few times in the past (that's me..) and not stayed are now staying. No its not "blind fanboism" its a population of gamers that enjoys this game for what it is now and not just laments about what happened and is long over.

Really all i'm trying to do is help the community of swg and let vet's know they can come back and trial.  It doesn't hurt to see how swg is doing, and maybe you will enjoy it.  That's all, thanks for everyones input. Negative, and Positive.
