I used to play SWG, but I ended up quitting because I couldn't find either the Kashykk or Mustafar expansions. Now that they've released a pack with all four expansions, I'm thinking of coming back. I was just wondering, what would be a good class to pick? I'm looking for: - PvP on land, and in space. - High Damage - Uniqueness

Originally posted by ajs08 Land and space skills are totally divorced; you can be a trader on the ground with no combat chops but be a terror amongst the stars in your Kimogilla. High damage? Probably Commando is the best bet there. Uniqueness? Very hard to do in the NGE, where you're pidgenholeled into one of nine 'iconic" classes. Jedi is probably the most popular prof, and the least likely for you to be considered anything near unique. |

| CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested. Once a denizen of Ahazi |

A heart of darkness and a soul of the light can never truly coexist. |
I played SWG not too long ago during the NGE. As many of the people stated above me it is hard to be unique with only nine classes. There are a couple ways you could attempt this however. The most obvious one IMO would be the beast mastery system. Maybe be a BM/BH (Beast Master/Bounty Hunter), and name your pet and keep it with your through your travels. You can also "grow" mounts like banthas and give them custom colors and whatnot. As far as DMG goes I only played BH and Jedi, and with BH I did fairly decent damage, and I always hear of commando being heavy in the dmg dept. If the Star Wars world can always bring a smile to your face, I say give it a shot. That worked for me, but in the end I was done in by the lack of reason to group in this game.
Good Luck

Well, it doesn't have to be unique. Just not the most popular class. (I wouldn't be jedi because of how many there are, and how jedi are supposed to be dead/in hiding at the time of SWG). |

Simple mind, simple pleasure. |
Dont listen to the haters, I mean isnt almost 2 years a long enough time to let all the NGE angst drop, I mean, seriously grow up, we pretty much all of us liked the game better pre-nge, but this new game is what it is? Ive been back off and on since the NGE, about every 6 months or so, I just restared my account this week. I am glad I did, there really are new people playing, met one last night who didnt know what a teras kasi was (I was sportin my elder title). The housing demolitions seems to have freed up a bit of space and over all the game is moderatly healthy (at least on my server). It is the highest population I've seen since the NGE landed, thats not to say that its high, but I see people pretty much everywhere Ive gone. About best classes and what not, you can pretty much min/max anything, there is enough variety for you to make yourself unique. In fact, I was with my old guild base busting this last weekend and of all the people there, there were only 2 Jedi, all the rest were fairly distributed among the combat classes. I'm getting a real kick out of the new Beastmaster stuff, it is an intriguing and unique system. That said, I'm not sure if I'll be sticking around this time, depends on if they announce a new expansion or not I suppose, its been nearly 2 years since the last and that came at such an inoppertune time that it quite frankly left a bit of a bad taste, I still haven't explored most of that. Go to Ahazi if your looking for a good server. -Gooney |

Originally posted by ajs08i was a jedi for 3 years and recently changed to smuggler (i was a pistoleer/BHpistols/Smuggpistols pre-jedi) and am having a blast... not many people play it (4% of gcw officers are smugg.... 40% are jedi) b/c its not considered 'uber' but honestly, its lots of fun to play. Button mashing spam attacks will get you killed - finesse and timing will let you escape. 1v1 I'm not that great but I will hurt you in group pvp. Catch me solo? I'll get a few good hits in and will book it but will live to tell about it... 3 jedi caught me last night.. they got rooted in a starport while I was escaping ... good fun |

RIP: pre-CU & pre-NGE |
I do play a Jedi still, despite the fact that there are a lot of us around. The simple reason is that I feel I earned the right to play the role having unlocked my Jedi before the NGE. Besides, Jedi is the reason I started playing this game. Don't listen to the haters. You can't really be a unique Jedi, but maybe you can be unique by the way you play it. You might not be uber, but dress yourself as a Jedi chef or something....as you run around on the PvP battlefield getting pwned, you can set macros to say stupid things like "Don't make bust my glowy wok and stir fry your asses!" Or...you can just be the "underpants Jedi" (depending on your race...)
Medics seem to be the best support characters on the PvP battlefield. Whenever I'm in a big group, we always try to target the medics first, so that they don't keep reviving those that we kill. I have a low level medic as my 2nd alt (my main is elder Jedi, so I have 2 alts) and I don't know just yet what kind of damage they can do, but it seems like they can be pretty strong and they can always give themselves medic buffs. Smuggler seems cool. Spy looks like fun, but they seem to get hated on by everyone in PvP because they can "cloak" indefinitely, sneak up on people and "assassinate" unsuspecting targets. |
