Hello everone and im Wesker1275and i want to talk to you about Star wars Galaxies and SOE.Before i go on any longer please note that i dont for SOE and do not know any one who works for SOE but i will talk about star wars galaxies and what I think SOE could be planing to do with it.Ok so we all know that Star wars galaxies began devepment in march of 2000 and was

Release on june 26 2003 in the USA and was praised for its lush graphics, liberal use of the movie soundtracks, massive world size, character customization, creative creature ecology, complex skill system, player economy interdependencies and its sandbox approach but Reviewers criticized the overwhelming complexity of the game,PVP/PVE combat imbalances of the professions, bugginess and lack of Quest content. The reviews for the first expansion, Jump To Lightspeed, praised the new space combat but criticized the ground game for its lack of sufficient improvement. The reviews for the second expansion, Rage Of The Wookiees lauded the new quest content for current subscribers but lamented the CU and the continued bugginess of the game. The third expansion, Trials Of Obi-Wan(ToOW), once again introduced new quest and content and the planet Mustafar. However, two weeks later a new system called NGE was introduced, which forever changed the play style of SWG and removed some of the content that was included with ToOW.

Ok so we all know that galaxies was doing good before the NGE came out and removed alot of context that they add in before they made the NGE Live.So why did they make the NGE Live and remove a lot of context they made at lauch because at Lauch Reviewers criticized the overwhelming complexity of the game,PVP/PVE combat imbalances of the professions, bugginess and lack of Quest content and the NGE tryed and failed to fix these problems that they had at lauch.Well the NGE did ok at fixing these problems it was the way the NGE fix these problems that made most of the old player base leave star wars galaxies Forever.Ok here is where sony went wroung with the NGE 1. the new class system they made for the NGE is to generic and makes jedi too weak 2.The sory line of the game is not good and could be better.Ok they did fix the combat system but was the only think the nge did right.

Ok star war wars galaxies had 3 good Expansion packs but we all know that SOE has a new system where they try to Release new Expansion packs for they MMORPGS each year and so far they done that to Everquest 1 and 2 but not galaxies WHY? Well I dont know but this is not like Sony to not to try to make Expansion packs for they mmorpg so they can make more money but not to try to make Expansion packs ,and more money for star wars galaxies is not likely for SOE to do unless they have some think big planed for Galaxies.so i have some ideas that i would like you to vote on.

Ideas that Soe is planing for Star wars galaxies.

1.SOE is planing a other Star wars MMORPG not related to galaxies and is buying time with galaxies until they have a other star wars MMorpg ready to lauch.

2.SOE is Planing to redo galaxies with better graphs ,A Complete new and better class system and plan to hand craft ever thing in the game and will have a new combat sytem and will Release this Game as Star Wars Galaxies 2

3. SOE did lose the star wars rights to a other company which is making a other star wars mmorpg and that soe was given 3 years to milk as much money as they can out of galaxies(that why they add in new context to get new people to come so that they can make more money) amd to get as much of the player base on SOE's Station Pass.

4.SOE is not planing any thing big aamy there are tryingto fix the gamethey broke by adding in new context and fixing some bugs.

hate to say this but, swg is dead and it isn't coming back. this game was great but soe is too busy buying every mmo under the sun in hopes of getting the next big hit to care about current games. we need to deal with it and buy force unleashed when it comes out. oh, jtl was the only good update to the game.

Since obviously you have never played pre-cu or even the beginning of the CU, you will never realize that starports used to be PACKED with people. A good 70-100 people every night at primetime packed in just one starport (not counting the cantina) with no events or celebrations to bring them there, just that there were so many people playing the game.

But whats the point of explaining it to an NGE fanboy that has a fully populated server of imaginary friends. Your servers can't even muster 20 people in a starport at primetime on a Friday night. And those are not estimations, those are facts. Check the leaked server stats that are out there for a confirmation. Too bad you just can't face it yet.

I'm insulted by your post there Spartan. i have played Galaxies since day 1. And just because i don't have thousands of people infront of me outside a starport means the game is dead?

You clearly haven't a clue about the cycle of MMO games. Since the launch of Galaxies back in 2003, how many MMO games were out there then, compared to today? Hundreds more, including some big hitters, like warcraft. Like any game, the playing community drops after a certain point.

Yes, NGE helped it drop faster, thats when I left, but I returned and have to admit that the changes made since NGE are welcome. It's very clear that you haven't played Galaxies since NGE and rely on facts and data plucked straight out of a Jawa Sandcrawler! The game will never return to the dizzy heights of 2003 simply because the game was brand new back then.

The question is, why would I want to play broken pre-cu code? And I assure you, when and IF emu launches, I doubt if you will even reach the numbers the game had at launch, so will Emu be classed as 'dead' also?

You guys do realize that SWG has one of the largest land mass among MMORPGs? Do you realize that pre-CU we had to stand at starports for quite some time to get doctor buffs and to get that solo group for doing  missions just to return back to starport after finishing two missions? Do you know that there are a lot of quests that require people be all over the place now? I don't really think that Coronet full of people necessarily means there were that more people playing in those times.

I came back and gave the trial a go a while ago and thought the same thing. SWG isn't for me, but the game isn't dead. Not by a long shot.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online.  SWG has less than 80K subs now and at its peak had over 350K. They may get short term pops just after each publish, but most people don't end up sticking around.  They've already stated there will be no expansion this year and most servers are so quiet people are begging for either free character transfers or server merges.  A key component for any MMO to succeed is having other players to interact with, otherwise you may as well just play a single player game. SWG may not be dead, but it is dying; if you cannot clearly see that you need a dose or reality.

The cycle of MMO games?  That entire paragraph is a joke right? First, WoW wasn't out when SWG launched, WoW went live over a year after SWG.  WoW's numbers continue to grow and now stand well over 8 Million subs.

I still play SWG (though nowhere near as much as I did pre-NGE) and yes they have certainly made it better than when NGE first hit, but it still falls short of what the CU or pre-CU were.  An IP such as Star Wars has so much more potential - if done right SWG could have measured its subs in millions to, but alas, that day will never come.  Someday the sun will finally set on SWG and hopefully LA will give the license to a dev team that will develop a game worthy of having Star Wars in the title.
