Old but still interresting article to read and think about. So they start to devolep this new MMO game somwhere in 2005. So if game desgin docs where completed in 2006 and Hero Engine was licenced by them in 2005/2006 then I gues they already must have somekind working prototype/beta game. www.primotechnology.com/2007/10/19/biowares-upcoming-mmo-based-in-kotor-universe/ |

Ah my favorite brain soup: cream of no where. What''s the matter kid, don''t you like clowns? |
I find it strange that nothing official has been released yet.

While I love Star Wars and would probably play the bioware MMO if it is star wars based, I'm really tired of linear/questing/WoWlike games. And it appears that the developers really like WoW. It will be interesting, but I'm looking for something more Sandbox. |

Not really considering how BioWare works. They typically do not start letting cats out of hte bag until much further along in the dev cycle. Before Mass Effect was released there was little to no talk of Dragon Age. With DA's release a few months down the road they are starting to talk about that more. I would expect more info on the mmo after Dragon Age has released. Not to mention that just knowing that they are working on one seems to have generated more buzz than a screenshot or movie ever could have lol. Have patience, they will talk about it when they are good and ready and not a minute before :) |

Thats just it, Bioware doesn't seem to realize that MMO's are a different breed of game compared to console or offline pc games. Tey needed to offer info well over a year ago to generate interest in the mmo to be even slightly successful. MMO's are created and sustained on "word of mouth" on the internet and it's shame so many other companys havent realized this. If only we had an acutal "business man" running an mmo besides a developer then maybe we will see a WoW killer someday.

A "business man" might look at a game, and think "hey, why do we only have 200'000 players when this other game has several millions... let's change our game to look more like that other one, and then we would have millions as well". And as you might agree, this scenario isn't quite unrealistic, now is it? |

It''s not that I''m afraid to die. It''s just I don''t want to be there when it happens. |

It was a business man posing as a game developer that made a mess of SWG in the first place! |

And as you might agree, this scenario isn't quite unrealistic, now is it? Changing any business has a "risk" factor, you weigh the potential increase against the potential loss of business. What was done to SWG was a risk that NO knowledgeable and successful business person would have taken. |

All that Bioware states on their site is a 2006 release about hiring for a future MMO. My problem with that release is that they also acknowledge hiring two ex-SOE Vice Presidents from SOE Austin. Hope they weren't in on the SWG disvision of SOE. http://www.bioware.com/bioware_info/press_releases/2006_03_15_Austin/ |

Doesn't seem strange to me. What game has released recently that has been hyping itself for years, and managed to live up to the expectations it set? Yea, I can't think of one either. Now I don't know how much SWG, WoW, and CoX hyped themselves up before they released, but I didn't know a damn thing about either before they went live. And those are the only three games I wasn't disappointed in after playing. AoC, TR, DDO, WAR, LOTRO, and every other game I played or tested left me completely disappointed. And that's largely due to expectations that were set ahead of time. I'd rather the new SW MMO come out of nowhere with no open beta, not already available websites like alkazzam and thottbot, and the new gamers have that sense of the unknown like the original MMOs out there. |
