Reguardless of who made the game or why it wasn't ready SOE chose to sale the game to the public Knowing it wasn't ready. They didn't have to/shouldn't of done that, but given SOE's poor history was to be expected. That is the expectation of quality one should expect when dealing with SOE, which is why I don't deal with them and anyone who cars about the mmo genre or buiness ethics shouldn't either. I don't see how people can be so obtuse as to excuse this type small-minded, tunnel visioned, anything for a dollar business practice. |

Um...are you kidding? Bioware rocks, Star Wars rocks, of course we would give anything a shot with either one of those factors involved. However, don't count on a Bioware SW MMO that rumor has already been put to rest in a round about way. |

The Bottom line is, I love all things Star Wars (aside from the NGE). In fact I would give anyone a CHANCE if they put out a NEW Star Wars mmorpg. Now, if it's anything like the NGE, I wouldn't play long, but I would give it a shot. I simply love Star Wars and I can't wait until we see a new mmo. |

I would much rather they concentrate on establishing a new I.P. like Mass Effect for instance rather than rehash old themes. SWG, and the CU farce, should stand as a reminder to the industry as a key learning but I think promoting new innovation is healthier than looking backward. |

My answer would be "it depends" I might be one of the biggest Star Wars fans you'll ever meet. I was in line as an 8yr old with my Dad in 1977 to see the original. I collected the toys and played star wars with the kids next door. As a grownup, Ive played all the early PC LucasArts games (i still play Jedi Academy). Ive even attended conventions such as Celebration 3 in Indianapolis. I have a game room in my home with star wars decorations and memorabilia all over the place. My home computer is an Alienware Star Wars special edition system. When it came time to upgrade, I scrapped out all the components and replaced everything just so I could keep my star wars case. In short, Im a huge fan. I even enjoyed the new prequels although most vet fans seem to despise them (okay I'll admit Jar Jar and episode one kinda bit but episode 3 was awesome !). Despite all this, my experience with Star Wars Galaxies has left me jaded. Sony broke the cardinal rule of MMO's by changing the core essence of the game. Sony took my subscription fees and used it to design a completely new game knowing full well that I wouldnt like it. Thats called stealing in my book. I dont easily forgive thieves. Looking at Bioware, I see a company that can spin a good tale. However, good quests wasnt what made star wars galaxies great. It was a virtual world where I could make my own stories and my own destiny. It was so complex and unique, it was rare to find someone with the exact same skills you had. Look at the opposite type game, World of Warcraft. How many 10/48/3 mages were out there, hundreds of thousands perhaps ? You will never be unique in games such as WoW and its clones. Will a new MMO by Bioware give me 32 classes to choose from ? Will it allow me to mix and match skills to suite my playstyle ? Or will they fall victim to the EQ/WoW mentality of we gotta have a tank class, a dps class, and a healer class, bleh. Will Bioware script a game similiar to KOTOR where im forced to follow a storyline ? Will the areas be similiar to KOTOR where I cant explore much as everything is pathed and blocked off ? I like quests as much as the next guy but this obsession with packing a game with 2000 of them is insane. I want the option to do quests simply for the story but I dont want to be forced to do them as the only means of gaining XP. Will Bioware offer me the chance to run my own business as a full-time crafter ? SWG was unique in that I could completely avoid combat alltogether if I so choose. I could have my own vendors in a house that wasnt instanced. Yes housing got out of control in SWG because the devs refused to remove old structures but it was still the best housing system ever devised. Instanced housing / zones just plain suck Will Bioware limit toons to 1-2 per server so players can be interdependant upon each other ? Or will they follow WoW and allow 5 or more so anyone can make toons to cover al their crafting needs (and therefore not need other players for items). A true player-run economy begins and ends with decay. Will Bioware allow items to decay so crafters can build replacements, thus a real economy ? If Bioware gave me a virtual world / sandbox game then yes I will play it. If they offer up another WoW clone because thats what the beancounters want, Ill pass. |

I would certainly give it a shot. I wasn't real hot on pre-CU when SWG launched. It never really felt like Star Wars to me and then the game just got worse after the revamp. Bioware did a helluva job on both KOTOR games, so I at least feel confident that they could put something out that would at least feel like Star Wars. |

I'd give another Star Wars MMO a shot if and only if not every single person in the game is a Jedi. I have no interest in being a Jedi along with 95% of the population. Star Wars is very much more than lightsabers and Jedi.
If there's player housing(ala SWG not EQ2), DEEP complex crafting(ala SWG), multiple professions and in a sandbox setsup not linear progression. I don't care how many thousands of people say 'it's just a SWG clone', that in my opinion would be the greatest compliment and not a flame. |

I would support a sandboxy mmo set in the star wars universe as long as SOE had absolutely nothing to do with it. Don't like the attitude the company and their mouth, Smedley, has towards gamers. |
