ok so this is my current plans for a game that i want to play (very similar to pre-cu, infact its almost exactly the same) and i was wondering if i could get some vet feedback on my plans.
i plan to have a master BH and master CH. my alt will be a Master Bio-engineer, master architect and 0/4/0/4 weaponsmith. i was planning to set up an outpost on talus (or another foresty planet) with a lab and some harvesters. my alt would make pistols (and some carbines) for my BH and my friend (also a BH), he would create monsters for my BH (invisible rancor
i was wondering what you vets though about this set-up and whether it would work. also any tips are appreciated (like what buildings i should use, what weapons..ect) |

Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves. |
But I would suggest you bring this up in the right forum, most likely one of the EMU forums, and ask people who actualy play the same game as you are playing. Simply do not expect things that worked almost 5 years to be working the same way now in these day's and times with those emu's of pre-cu swg. Not meant as feature's not working, just your setup might work or might not work it depence on point A or B. |

Originally posted by Death1942 Yeah, the game you wanted died 2+ years ago, sadly. All of the multi-classing is gone, more or less. SWG is a sad level based slog through grinding levels, grinding collections, and if you can find enough people, grind heroic instances. Did I mention it's a grind? While it is possible to play a bounty hunter (single class) with the so called "replacement" for CH now called Beast Master (expertise system, a rip-off of the WoW talent system)) I would not recommend it. First, BM is not nearly as effective as CH used to be, no pet taming, it is really a combination of old CH and BE, but not as useful as either. As a BH, you would have to sacrifice all of you BH expertise skills that would keep you alive or make you effective in order to get enough BM skills to theoretically make it a useful skill, which it isn't really anyway. BM is used mostly by people to grind levels AFK, as it is not worth much else. Also, with the death of the 32 professions and the birth of the 9 "iconic" profession with the abomination that was the NGE, that crafting build you want is not possible. Old AS and WS are grouped together, Chef and Tailor are grouped, Architect and SW are grouped and DE and Master Artisan are grouped. And it is an all or nothing deal. No mix and match, you get what you get. Again, you could theoretically do a Trader/BM build, but you would probably not want to. If all that sounds bad to you, it is. If you expect numbers of players like you remember, they are not there, more than 200k people have quit since the NGE and the active playerbase is less than 25k across 25 servers. Low player population is the biggest issue for players of the current game. $OE will not offer free player transfers from empty to relatively populated servers. Crafting, is also more or less dead, as there is no decay in game any more, and loot weapons and other items are better than crafters could make, in most cases. Bottom line is that this game is a sorry memory of what it used to be and many of we vets would be happier if the current game closed to make way for a new, better, non-$OE SW MMO. |

actually it is exactly the same as the pre CU SWG. all i want is a little advice so i am not making a huge mistake as the grind will no doubt be long (but fun). |

Ok... I'll make it more simple. The crafter build you want, it is not possible. The 32 professions are gone, 9 classes have been put in their place. You CAN NOT pick and choose the skills you want any more. The BH build you want, is possible, but will be gimped so bad, that you can neither PvE nor PvP effectively, as by playing a straight BH build. Pets are not effective in combat, aside from using them for an AFK xp grind. Against high end PvE targets and other players, they suck. And the grind, is not fun. This game is nothing compared to Pre-CU and no one is playing compared to Pre-CU. Save your money. |

I thought this thread was a joke at first but I see he is being serious... Does he not realize that this is a different game than he played? You can't modify your build, it's all level now. Be prepared for a LONG, BORING grind. Save your time and money, the game is horrible. |

Spelling and grammar do matter. I find your lack of real-life skills disturbing. |
Originally posted by ThunderousPerhaps you did not read what the OP actually posted? I quote: "ok so this is my current plans for a game that i want to play (very similar to pre-cu, infact its almost exactly the same) and i was wondering if i could get some vet feedback on my plans." <italics for emphasis> Doesn't sound to me like he is talking about playing the NowGamingElsewhere. My first and remaining impression was that he wants template advice for play on a future "bird" server. |

just to clear things up for any more posts the game is not the NGE it is very close to pre-cu
i would like some feedback from vets who had bounty hunters, creature handlers, architects, bio-engineers and weaponsmiths to get get a rough idea as to whether my build would work. |

So play the game "Existence" to the end |
Originally posted by Death1942 Ch doesnt go with BH unless you exploit with your pet or something. You could kill low level jedis, but a master sabers jedi would down you in a few seconds. I dunno if you could even master ch and BH could ya? I cant remember, but your only combat skill would be from BH and sicking your pet. Far to weak unless you had a super DOT and your mark wasnt a jedi healer. This is post pub 9. |

Originally posted by Death1942 I briefly tried MBH and some CH....this was back when you needed master scout to have MBH. Anyways, it was fun to have a tank, and this was also long before buffs were good, and solo'ing regular npc missions. I remember it being cool actually because I was one of the few of my friends who could actually solo the 9k credit missions because of my pet. It didn't last long for me though, because CH didn't do so hot in pvp. |
