I didn't even bother to read the article, since the words "Card" and "Game" put me totally off it.

Isn't it the same shit they did with EQ2?
I mean you buy a deck of cards for real money and you win ingame powerful items?
Basically a Micro Transaction in stealth, what majority of people don't want and one of the reason some people left EQ2?
So they finally decided to give the kiss of death to SWG too?

And no, I am not going to read the article because I am afraid I could be right, my heart might not take it.

I agree.

Card game... why?  If SOE would concentrate 1/2 as hard on really fixing their game as opposed to crap like this... well, it might pay off with their current customer base.  This type of thing will not be bringing many players back to the game, not in my opinion, anyway.

Curious, those playing the /whine card, have you actually tried the card game or are you merely commenting just because it's got SWG in the title? I'm going to guess the latter...

Anyway, the TCG isn't developed by the Austin devs which devleop the main MMO game. The Denver studio (the one that made this TCG) has the sole purpose of creating TCG's, so if it wasn't this SWG themed one then it would have been a different TCG instead. So no, very little MMO dev time was lost by adding this.

It's proving to be quite popular for those that play the more social professions/roles in the game as it gives them new content that isn't combat related.  You don't need to pay anything to actually play the TCG,  you get free packs just for subbing to SWG.  Essentially, it gives you something to pass the time in the game during the down time periods (such as waiting for a group to get ready, factories to finish, etc) - or you can get serious about it and throw some money at it and treat it like a main game.

Personally, I'm not sure how much I'll get into it.  It's fun to play, especially against friends, but I like to focus on one game at a time, which right now is SWG.

I wish I worked at the SOE Denver . They took the first game CoN and changed the pictures and text and Wa-Laa CotF .  Then collected their easliy earned paycheck  - Nice.  They could make a career out of this.

Champions of Burning Seas

Champions of  Justice League

Champions of Espianoge

Champions of Q-bert

You get the idea.

/agree Jestor.  I mean if it had some actual animations of like the two jedi's coming out and fighting when the cards are played it might be ok.  But looked pretty bland and like something I could play on a DS.

Only reason SWG as a game survives is the brandname Starwars.

This game has been utterly destroyed, and now they launch this attempt at milking the collectors among us. Once more following in the footsteps of WOW.

Way to little, way to late.
