PROBLEM with buyilding your own mansion or house in the middle of nowhere, what if some group of people decide to destroy it alone with your crops???
That would be terrible, im a little worried leaving your house unattended.
Ugh you get that feeling when you log in one day realize your house is destroyed?

Is that a problem, or just part of the game's design. Join the League For Gamers. |

not really , i think it could be a problem. Its just well your hard work can get destroyed when your offline and building your house somewhere in the middle of an island is a bad idea overall. :p
i could handle it its part of the game freedom but god getting looted must suck especially there is no one to help you guard the place. :p
some people seems to want to build their houses out of middle of nowhere, hey i woudl love that and just build up a farm, unfortunately bad things will happen to you if there is no player protection, and putting your life's work out of player run cities is probably not a good idea to begin with.
sounds good on paper building whereever you want , until i realized strangers c an destroy nd cut down your trees and steal your crafting materials.

I'll be completely honest and say I dont know a whole lot about specifics of the game mechanics, but I dont think its possible to entirely destroy someones house completely is it? I think you can get robbed, but I've heard that if someone robs you the victim will be able to follow a trail of footsteps back to where you are to seek revenge.
Either way, however its implemented, I dont really think its a 'problem'... but more kind of the whole point and part of the games design. Its intended to be that way and serves a greater purpose, as opposed to say an instanced house which has far less.
It definitely isnt for everyone, but those that it is for will love it.

Throws some sand in the box.
If i log out when im inside my house, would be nice that my character stays inside there sleeping also,if some criminal tries to PK my house, then AI takes control and my character wakes up and defends that house.
just a thought.

Originally posted by ArcheAgeFan yep it is an issue with the games design, what do they want you to do, hire players that have no lives to guard it? It's the issue with pvp on all the time type games, no it's not normal they would have some kind of law enforcement in the real world. they should at least lock out your possessions while you are logged off at the very least so they can't be destroyed. |

On the first two continents other players cannot assault your house or trees/crops/livestock as long as they're within your houses set circumference. On the third continent everything is up for grabs which is why most players build homes inside their expedition force castle.

No, you can burn the house down, destroy all the crops, kill the animals, etc. I'm not familiar with any of the additional mechanics in place that can be used to protect your stuff, or seek revenge for your stuff, etc. For me, personally, I don't know that I'd be interested in playing a game where that is the norm. Even on Minecraft servers where it's possible to destroy everything, there are generally mods used that allow for an area to be protected. With enough effort, you can build a safe place in the wilderness, and you don't have to worry too much about losing your stuff when you log off. That's just me though. ** edit ** drakaena has provided better information. I wasn't aware that you could even build a house on the first two continents. Join the League For Gamers. |

If I recall correctly Houses cannot be destroyed and looted, except on the 3rd continent following a successful siege of the castle they are placed near.
Crops. plants and animals etc.. within a small radius of your House or a Scarecrow cannot be stolen at all. Things outside that radius are fair game, BUT, evidence is left in the form of footprints that can be picked up and turned in to the local magistrates. In the following video Fido (bcofido) found someones trees unattended and went to work... be sure to notice the red footprints on the ground, the evidence of criminal activity.

Should you kill a same faction player you leave similar evidence, in that case a blood splatter. Once you accumulate 50 'crime points' the player receives a summons to appear in court for a trial by players as jury. Sentences are determined by players and are a term in jail of some minutes of ingame time. In CBT4 a permanent record was kept of crime points, even after being found innocent or serving time, and once the player hit 30,000 they could no longer use normal NPC merchants and quest givers. Instead they only had the ones on the Pirate island to use. In CBT 5 they seem to have added that players with Pirate status would respawn in Jail after any deaths. |

I personally thinks that's cool, it gives a sense of realism and also gives you the excuse to track them down and kick their butt!

Exactly! If you build your house in the middle of nowhere unprotected, thats what you get. If you build it in a city, it's as protect as can be.

It's a sandbox game, you chose to build you house in the middle of nowhere/hostile zone, then that's what you get.
It's not like the game ONLY offer this option , you have tons of option. |

The only thing I hate about non-instanced housing is it can ruin the environment/scenery. For awhile I had a beaufitul little cliff to myself in SWG, a few weeks later there were those giant harvesting pumps pretty much surrounding my house. Not sure how Archeage plans to handle housing, but I do think they should keep it loosely constrained somewhere. |

Originally posted by Wolfenpride On the southern 2 'Home' continents, houses can be place in selected areas, once it is full with houses and farms people will have to look elsewhere. On the northern continent, once an Expedition Force (read Guild) places a land claim, then castle walls can be built within 100m of the claim and housing/farms within 250m. |

This is one of the good bits about the game.. :)
Also as someone said there are safer places to build your house but on the thirds island or whatever is full open pvp/sandbox and that = awesome :)
