Dynasty Warriors Online, the game we had all expected! Our favourite hack and slash is now finally an online game! We were all excited to see our favourite Dynasty Warriors characters (and ROTK characters) in this kick ass hack and slash MMORPG! We were all excited with our "Cheng Pu for Playable" shirts, we were all excited for "Cao Cao hires us at last!" coffee mugs! And Aeria Games opened it AND...

... the crowd went silent... in disappointment.

Not only to mention the trailer was horrifying (I'm fine with the Japanese voices, far better than the English ones, and I'm glad they retained the original voices), but the game as well. In the game, you have to put in your ID from Aeria Games, and it appears above your character. There is no option to put in an Ingame name or Description, so thats what already made ME feel bad. I wanted to make Zhuge Dan in the game, but the names wont take spaces. So I had to put "ZhugeDan". Ugly, I know. But anyways, when I was creating "ZhugeDan", I've noticed, as USUAL as ANY OTHER Aeria games, has lack of customizations. There is also a lack of choosing your starter weapon (hell, even creating your own weapon style and movesets)... What made me depressed, beside the selecting of birth place, which I enjoyed since I got Zhuge Dan's home right, was the fact that it's scenario restricted. THAT is where it all went downhill even more from there. Seriously, I do NOT want to fight for Cao Cao, Liu Bei or any of those officers, I want to fight on a DIFFERENT map, not the ones that tell ME what to do. The very least they could do, is to do a map wipe for new players, and let them choose what scenario, and a server for us to log in to.

The Tutorial was taking TOO long since you are unable to skip the chatting, and the controls were unbearable without a PS2/PS3 or an xBox controller. So... I had to suffer my entire way using the arrow keys, which got pretty handy for me, and I've eventually gotten use to them. Another depressing part about the game was that you were unable to leave the city and explore China, and theres a battle LIST... Another bad part? When choosing your officer, you can only choose playables, NOT generics. I wanted to be Zhuge Dan fighting under Li Dan or Yue Jin, not any of the playables like Xu Huang or Sima Yi. Hell, I wanted to serve under Sima Zhao, BUT NOOOOOO...

Another bad part is that the game RARELY gets updated. Seriously, it's STUCK in the Fifth freaking installment, when the game is already in the seventh! The best they could do is to update models somewhat, and provide new charaters, or ATLEAST introduce the new ones with their models in the new games.

So anyways, here is our final review, Lord Cao Cao, why don't you give us what you think?

HMM. Very well. Even though computers don't exist in second century China, I'll do my best!

Gameplay - 6/10: Of course, like any other game we are in, we always fight and kill over a hundred soldiers in a matter of thirty seconds, so nothing new. Orbs were already introduced and improved in the seventh game. The depressing part was that I couldn't let my loyal vassal, "XunYu2012" to travel throughout China at all, and had to limit him to just staying in the city talking to the Clerk.

Sound - 10/10: As usual, this man... whats his name? AH YES, MASA! He's becoming an idol in Wei, it's hard to keep up! Anyways, as usual, MASA brings back his kick ass tunes that we all know and love. But they've been remixed a bit, which sounded even better, since this is Dynasty Warriors 3 music, which contains Arena, Tyrant, etc.

Graphics - 3/10: Five Words, Outdated Dynasty Warriors Five Graphics. Enough said.

Story - 2/10: Terrible. Not even matches the story we know anyways. It's outdated and has not enough characters.

Characters - 1/10: I've seen you all before... How about you throw in some of my other officers who were not mentioned or neglected in the games like Xun Yu or Yue Jin.

And our final score, Alex, won't you take it away?

Overal Score: 1.7/10. This game was a massive disappointment, and I was expecting BETTER, especially from a Dynasty Warriors fan like me. Fans of ROTK and DW, if you want to play a MMORPG Dynasty Warriors, play 7 and go onto Conquest Mode Co-Op online for the PS3. Do not even TOUCH this game until Aeria Games cleans up their act.
