  • How to Make Military Shooter MMOs Better

I often wish I could enjoy realistic military shooters like World of Tanks. I have tried them before, and the closest I came to joy was when I was piloting an old aircraft over a massive battlefield... then I was shot down. Because these games are skill-based shooters, it’s often the case that when you die you just stay dead; there’s no room for error. The last time I played World of Tanks I grew so impatient I just logged out. I probably appeared to be the world’s most sore loser.

  • The Great Tank Makeover

Games are made available on a new console all the time, not many however get a complete makeover from the ground up. World of Tanks is a great game on the Xbox360, but the visual and auditory makeover to bring it to the Xbox One is a work of art.

  • Wargaming.net's Grand Finals Starts in Warsaw, Poland

Today marked the opening of the Wargaming.net League World of Tanks Grand Finals, and boy was it grand. It began with pounding techno music, flashing lights, and super-macho trailer showing competitive tough guys ready to tank it out, and a huge digital display that counted down the seconds until show time.

  • The Truth is MMOs are Evolving

I think a change in acronyms is due to match the change. MMORPG has always been a mouthful and sort of sucked all of the immersive qualities out of the genre. MMORPG sounds like a scientific categorization. And, as this column hopefully shows, the semi- or pseudo-MMO market is alive and well within the blurry lines in between genres, so we need some new terms.

  • MMOS - Selling Lifestyles, Not Just Games

Entertainers these days don't seem content to succeed at one thing. That's because making money in the entertainment business just isn't as straightforward as it used to be, so performers have learned to expand their brands beyond music or movies and into other markets. Similarly, game makers are realizing if they want to survive, let alone thrive, they too need to expand their commercial and cultural reach.

Research house SuperData recently released some findings on the average revenue per user for 10 prominent free to play online games. This is an area in which there has never been much readily available data.
