I have to admit, in the beggining I looked at screen shots of xsyon and just thought to myself.... wow. Not wow in a good way but wow in the sense that I couldn't believe a game would use graphics like this anymore. About a month ago though I got an offer through my gaming clan to try the game free and I decided what the heck. BF3 is pissing me off, Im still waiting on xenonauts to progress and endless space wore me out a bit for the time being. I joined into Xsyon and it took me a bit to get my bearings. There is no real in game tutorial but many great guides out them on youtube and what not ( I read none of them). I always prefer the games where I figure everything out myself first and ask questions later. I picked things up rather quickly and headed for the area that my tribe leader had told me, due north of founders island. For me I got lost and also had to wait for my tribe leader to get on to add me in, but for anyone else you can actually establish your own homestead or join up with other tribes . Once in my tribe I was able to now do far more things like build and terraform as well as be apart of a team of many different specialties. Thats is probably my second favorite thing about the game. You have the option to go out and be on your own. You can establish your own area and home, and find your niche. You then work your way into the economy and can be that well known mercenary or that crafting hermit everyone visits to get awesome shovels. However, if you want more security or a more social experience you can join up with a tribe. Each person that joins a tribe expands the area of that tribe and allows that tribe to expand control over resources while also being able to build on and adjust more of the terrain around the tribes totem. My most favorite thing about the game though is terraforming. I've gone through many a shovel and tons of dirt to make earthen walls, towers, an island fortress jutting out into the water , etc. There is nothing more satisfying than molding the terrain to your will and literally building the world to your specifications. Terraforming has made this game very addictive to me. Also to name a few more things I love are the fact that almost everything as far as plants, animals, terrain, and locations are based on real life and in a week or so there will be zombies !! These zombies will spawn from abandoned totems and will help clense the world of all the inactive people and their lands. Once they are done though with the toem areas they spawn at they will seek to pillage the world and take your sh*t so watch out =). Basically though this is a game you need to at least give a week. Especially with many more features coming now is the time to try out xsyon and help to rebuild the world in your own way.

Hopefully you have a good idea of how fun xsyon can be and the fact that it allows you to do and be what you want. I wish I could write a much better review but Im tired, and its 1 am and I need to get back to work terraforming my island fortress before the zombies come =/
