Where's the opportunity to do this with the aging PS3 platform?  Or any platform for that matter?  Platform games are something you pick up and play for a few days or weeks usually, rarely have I ever played a console game longer than 2-3 months.

EVE is 7 years old now thanks in part to being on a PC platform where both developers and players have the opportunity to upgrade their hardware.

Bottome line:  a console exclusive release is short-sighted planning if it's intended to be around for a long period of time like EVE.

There's also a number of people like myself that refuse to play FPS games with 2 little thumbsticks.  Give me a keyboard and mouse or don't bother.

if they truly want DUST 514 to succeed and be a viable part of the Eve experience.. then their going to have to accept...that none of the various consoles have what it takes to do this.. as the development process goes on.. i can't help but think, that eventually they will have to accept that its never going to work.

Battlefield 3 Sales:
Xbox 360: 2.2 million
PlayStation 3: 1.5 million
PC: 500,000

there is a whole lot more shooter players on consoles.... THIS IS THE REASON IT IS ON console....
and this not necessarily for eve players but it is for new new edden players...
CCP target market for Dust 514  is console players not EVE players.. ccp wants more players not same players leaving off to another game or splitting their time between those two...

I never in my life had a console.... now i do...
My black friday shopping consisted of getting PS3 and sharpshooter... If you really want to play this game you will find a way...

Ummm... doesn't it make sense that those with a PC or Xbox who were looking forward to the game might be just a little dissapointed?

And ps3?  What were they thinking by choosing the console with the smallest market penetration?

Microsoft was a whine bitch and

CCP did not want to give the server to MS. (PS the first original post explained this)

valid second point....

Looks like because most people don't have a PS3 that is why they complain. I own a PS3 and I will be playing as soon as I can (beta, or release).

What are the minimumrequirements for Eve?

Oh yeah, need a top of the line machine to run it....  Come on.

This is a flaw with PC games as well.  How long has the average player played DA2? Non-Sandbox Non-MMORPG Games in general have lost replay value because they are repetative and everyone has played them before. Sandbox  MMORPGs have not been tried on a concole yet.  This is the first, Code 4 on the 360 will be the second.

Keyboard and mouse is over rated crap, give me my gamepad in an action game.  Hell for Witcher 2 and Skyrim, I use my gamepad.

Being Console exclusive is not as short-sighted as you think, most new generation consoles are backwards compatible with previous generation games.  If it is a good MMORPG, then it will stay relevent for the next generation as well.

--CCP could cut off an Eve player's fun bits, and that player would say that it was good CCP did that.

Is this a serious question? Because the answer is quite obvious to me. I dont give a rats ass about which audience CCP is targetting. Eve is being played on PC and if I would still play Eve I would want to play the FPS game which is connected to Eve and I for sure hell wont buy a PS3 just to play one stinking game.

Think the real anwser is:

People on forums aren't playing a game and enjoying them self at that moment. They will complain for no clear reason.

Just try it when it comes out and if it's not for you then it smply not your game. I will play dust when it comes out but doubt I play it for long. Like eve just to much. I am simply on forums so I get 5/100 user activity so I can hype this game.

Graphics look fine and gameplay will be good too. How the community evolves is something only time will tell. Just my feeling that eve players will keep the dust players busy.

They complain because they dont have a ps3 or they feel anything related to eve should be given to them. Im going to play dust and enjoy it. Hopefully it goes on and lives for a long time. I am really looking forward to it all, even working with the fleeturds. Gotta make the money somewhere.

You must also factor in that PS3 online is free, and if this game has a sub that would turn a lot of people off.

"Well I bought the PS3 so I wouldn't have to pay to play online, why would I buy this game?"

So that leaves the main source of income for this game as EVE players who either

a- own a PS3 already

b- are willing to buy one just to play this game

Not sure how that could draw huge amounts of people...

I think some people are not aware how DUST 514 will work.

Mouse and Keyboard is confirmed for DUST 514.

CCP are truly innovators and this is the 1st attempt to merge 2 types of MMO in 1 Universe.

About the Subscription.

There is no Subcription for DUST 514. You pay $20 to buy the game and that money will be converted in ISK for you to spend in game, and the game is F2P. PSN is Free, so it will gather more people, it just depends in the people if they like the game.

The problem I can see with this, is with the PS3 crowd.

1. Because this type of games requires Team Gameplay, Communication and skills not only as an FPS, but as a MMO, it requires Logistics, and RTS Elements and tactics for the leader of the squad to command the big Ship of DUST 514 in the battlefield.

MAG which I was playing yesterday, is the type of game that really needs a lot of people to make matches of 256 Players, which has been declining a bit, so there is 64 players mode also, this type of games are designed for people that wants to be a in a Clan and play as a team. That is why it don't have that many amount of players as a Call of Duty. Many MAG Clans are looking foward to play DUST 514.

CCP is aiming 32vs32 players in the battefield.

Console hardware and long term vision:

Check this Interview:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsleGHCSN54&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

According to the CEO of CCP, they are expanding to other Audiences, and people that are interested on EVE Universe but don't want to play EVE Online itself, that is why DUST 514 comes in:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evumQppKogo&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

CCP and Sony needs to Advertise this game very well for PS3 and EVE Online. They started with the private beta for EVE Players only. It could change the Competitive Online gaming on PS3 forever and for EVE Universe itself.

Not every game has to be fast pace button mashing.

Not every game has to have PvP.

FFXI proved both of those points because in the grand scheme of MMO's FFXI is in the top 5 profiting MMO's of all time.

Waiting for:ArcheAge
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI

Sorry to disapoint you, but I still play my Sega master system and Snes. Great platforms and everlasting games. So if the game is good enough... But be sure they will update the engine for the next gen. consoles.

"1. CCP said a long time ago that they wanted to cater to a completely different audence from the eve players so that they dont end up competing against each other."

I just didn't understand this? Competing against each other. You mean like if someone owns a PS2 with Dust514 and is playing that while doing things online in EVE online? Win for Sony and win for CCP or maybe that is what they planned all along.

I see it more as limiting their potential because personally I have no interest in next gen systems, but do have interest in some of their games. Although I'm sure I am a small minority among gamers that I prefer the PC entirely to next gen. I have no problem with next gen but I'll be using a comp long after the next next gen pops up. Then it'll be some new game or something that they get exclusive with.

Then you run into people doing emulation. I'm not seeing the grand goal here to restrict a pretty large already interested player base. How am I to argue. Their company their rules. Dig in those pockets or ignore the game.

I also imagine that Sony payed for an exclusive (opinion). I don't see it as a negative cause I think CCP is a pretty good company and they deserve what they get. I do also understand the difficulty of multiple consoles at once. The lack of computer support is just tough to swallow, but oh well can't have everything you want. I would have enjoyed seeing their idea of conflict in the EVE world up close on the ground with that kind of cold grit that I feel with EVE. Ah well Mass Effect 3 should have co-op I'll just have to wait.

I'm not complaining I'm just voicing a thought. Waste of fingers used to complain about something. Good day to all. End of line...
