Vector City Racers Overview and Recent Content
Vector City Racers is a browser-based social sports MMO aimed at young boys ages 6-12. The developers describe their game as focusing more on "achievement-based gameplay" as an appeal to boys. Children can set up an account with parental approval, be assigned a username and start designing a car. The game is rendered in full 3D, and centers around circuit racing on various in-game tracks, with 13 cities available. Players compete in races, with leaderboards available to show who's on top, as well as socialize in several ways, such as through (filtered and monitored) chat, a player's custom personal garage space, stats, and more. Most of these are done in-engine for immersion.
VCR offers several tiers of access, including a no-obligation guest mode, a limited free membership, and several subscription options, including pricing for family accounts. Regardless of membership, there is also an item shop where upgrades and special customization items may be purchased.
